I have just got the "8" serviced and they told me that the CEL (check engine light) was on because of a bad sensor. They had to order the sensor and just resetted the CEL off. Now it's back on and I would like to turn it off myself. Anybody know how?

Disconnect the battery for an hour and plug it back in. That should clear the computer.

**Disclaimer - Don't know if this works, never tried it on an RX-8 but it has worked with previous cars, try at your own risk...

 

Disconnecting the battery for a little while (a couple of minutes) should do the trick. You can also press the brake pedal to make sure any residual charge is removed from the system.

Note, however, that if the light is on because of a system problem it will just come back on again after the problem is re-sensed. The better option would be to go back to the dealer and tell them that the light is back on and can they please actually fix the problem this time.
