Spray Painting

You guys know where is a good place for spray painting for replica kits. I saw the MS replica kits las tweekend and noticed the waves on the kit and the Garage R guy told me its mainly because of the painter and bodykit from Msia so see I'm seeing if there's a good painting shop around that can make the spray painting more even.....

If you ask around, the really good spray shops normally do not like to work on replica kits. Reason is replica kits require a lot of prep work to putty and sand down the surface to a very smooth finish which is very labour intentive and hence costly. Not to mention the paint shop would be putting their reputation on the line and most do not want to risk it with replica kits. Most people who go for replica kits normally do not want to shell out THAT much for the extra work required for a good paint job. I've seen shady paint shops that don't even spray a primer layer before painting and use the sun as a natural "oven". That's why most replica kits you see do not have very good paint finishing and replica kits also tend to crack at the putty seams mostly due to vibration. I've learnt my lesson the hard way with my first replica kit, so that's why I'd rather bite the bullet and go with original kits now and only send to the best paint shops in town. But to each his or her own... IMHO.

Lye Design does very good bodywork and also installs bodykits. They don't do spray painting, but you can ask him to recommend you the good spray shops. A few of us go to TCL in Taman Jurong for our paintwork, but like I said, most good paintshops do not like to touch replica kits with a 10' pole. My 2cts.
