PI or Mazda Singapore
Dear All,
I am thinking of purchasing a sports car and obviously RX8 is high on my list. Just like to check where should I get the RX8 from, PI or Mazda Singapore? I think the price difference is about S$10-15K. If PI, any PI with good aftersales service and reliable workshop? Thanks in advance for anyone's advice! Cheers

The only question is whether you want to drive manual or auto. Mazda Singapore sells manual only and PI auto only so it is a no-brainer once you decide which way to go.
As for PI, Garage R is "supposedly" good but they charge a higher price. Also, they stopped bringing in RX8 for a while but heard that they may restart. Other bros with special relation with the bosses *winks* may be able to advise better...

The only advice that I can say is when you are buying from PI,just be very very very careful really be ******* careful,Don't be like me fall to a pray to them. Was Promise to delivery the 8 to me since Mid Nov'05,But till now I still have not recieved my 8 .The latest was will get my 8 this week from 3/01/06 to 7/01/06,but **** again give me all kind of reason and excuse ,now latest was after chinese new year C.B enough ,I am going "F" them up no more chances.Think I have been too ******* kind to this ppl, and best of all,all the payment was make.So Pls all out there be very careful when you are going to buy from PI.If need me to tell you which PI I bought it from PM me will give you more of the detail.

Nah, sorry to hear of your problem. I was really "upset" abt my PI delivering my car to me 2 weeks after COE bidding so I imagine a 2 month wait... Have you already got your COE? They usually don't bid for the COE until the car is in stock, or if they're expecting a shipment that is on the way. That's usually a good gauge when you'll get your car.

$103k is not high... Those who bought 3 months before you did paid 10k more :P
But did you check if a COE is secured in your name? Having a confirmed COE on sales agreement is one thing. Having the PI bid the COE with your NRIC number is the more impt gauge. Think there is a 3 (or 6) month expiry so PIs will not bid until they have the stock. The way you put it, it sounds as if your PI is still waiting for the shipment to come in...

After so many storys I guess u have your answers now.
Buying from MM is not a bad ideal even if it cost abit more. cos I had good experience with them (while some has bad ones with MM)
My experience is . I left my car untouch for 2 mths and cant start the car.
So call for a Tow truck. and found out that the batt is dead and ecu when blank, and furthur more when the batt is low I try to start the car a few times and damage the spark plugs.
So they recharge my batt , flash and resett the ecu can a new set of spark plugs.
GUESS what???
FREE.... no need to pay a single cents...
If theres not warranty or warranty is over , the resetting of ecu will cost around S$500 and spark plugs another $80-100, and tow truck $50.
So its your call MM warranty 3 years and PI 1 year

I second Morgan's views, pay a bit more to MM and you need not worry for
at least 3yrs. Cheers !

Oh yeah Morgan, EACH spark plug (quoted Denso Iridium Racing or NGK Racing) cost 60SGD. That's 240SGD you saved.

Unfortunately, I won't know everything that you'll do...
As I said, what are you trying to achieve?
It's not just about rotary cars... how would you perform if you had a brain transplant?

Morgan...I always unhook my batt terminals (negative first, then positive) when I go on an extended trip and my car will be unused for a few weeks or more (plus I add a bit more air in my tyres....they should be just right when I return). Then I hook the terminals back up when I return (positive first, then negative).
Thing about the 8, I was away all of last month, when I came home early this month I hooked up my batt, started the car first crank and found the traction control light on. It stayed on for the whole day, then went off the next day and hasn't been on since....?

I'm the sequential post ***** on this thread , but I was at GR today and they have two very nice 6MT Shinka's on the lot (special edition), both "off-red" colour and JDM spec (SE3P) at 250 bhp.
