[DSC] on or off?

I'm pretty sure many of you know that theres a DSC on n off switch at the driver's right hand side but how many actually use that button?

Was playing around with my car this morning at a long stretch of road...
launched a couple of times with DSC on n DSC off...

just to confirm my findings, when the DSC OFF light comes on ... DSC is disabled (i suppose this is right)

with the DSC OFF light on... the car launches with lotsa wheelspin, feeling is damn shoikkkkkkkk and the car is very smooth with the acceleration ...
don't know the downside of this in corners yet but you can turn it on or off at anytime

with the DSC OFF light off... the car launches with a little bit of wheelspin but the traction control light comes on !! and then cuts the cars fluidity and makes it launch abit slower than the above (butt dyno)

anyone else tried this or has everyone done it n im slow???
LOL

p.s trying to keep forum alive

hey S,

do you know that if you press the DSC button for about 7 secs...the car going bananas light will come on....they say thats when the fun kicks in.

When you just press it to 'off' mode...seems like its just hulk mode....but when its 7 seconds 'off' mode...its hulkamania running wild!

i have not tried them yet....cos i am too relax/slack already. car can move happy already

Just be careful that your "testing" doesnt turn out like a handful of other members in this forum...

The story goes like this

-You learn to drive your car with DSC on, taking turns hard, etc
-You decide to toy with your car with DSC off
-You find yourself sideways down the road, hitting another car or a curb.

Use caution. She's a totally different animal without DSC.

I have a 04 4AT gt, with DSC and the button is on the left below the light dim swith, next to the hood release handle. I usually run with DSC in the off mode.

LHD drivers lives 7 years shorter than RHD drivers...

Hang on that is LH people vs RH people... .

There are 2 steps of DSC off - press once, you still have EBD but no traction control, and there you can power out and shift lock but the you cannot brake loose the car.

If you press 7 seconds - there is nothing but ABS.

I have a video in my site www.step-hen.com/rx8spec.htm#DSC

I can press either a LHD or RHD button at will...guess I'm ambidextrous eh

Back to the thread.....turn off yer DSC by all means if either you've upgraded your sus and/or are comfortable with the cars cornering balance. Why bother otherwise, nothing to gain. But please don't turn off the brake distribution (the after 7 seconds hold on the DSC)....if you turn it off, take a hard corner too hard and brake too hard, your rears could lock before the fronts....oso known as spin and not acceptable to other drivers, pedestrians and maybe even yourself.

You heard wrong. Unless of course, you think DSC is applying brakes all the time.

when you hold down the button for 7, the car stores that code. internally it's listed as a system error. If you crash, they can pull the code and know you disabled DSC.

Because it has been proven to be the most effective safety equipment since the introduction of airbag and seat belt.

You are in the same boat as those with DSC turning the button off, except they have around 25rwkw more than you
