I assume volume control on the steering also works, right? I have one question though, I know the Audio Link plugs into the external CD changer socket on the back of our factory head unit, but does MM 8's head unit have an external CD changer socket since the head unit is already a 6-disc CD player?
I know I can rip out my own factory head unit and check, but I'd rather not have to go through that process if somebody already knows the answer.

Check with ya, beside allowing you to switch to the next/previous song from the steering, how about those song in the playlist? can you select the playlist from the steering or ? and volume control on the steering?
If i am not wrong, you can't control your ipod anymore (those buttons on the ipod) when it is connected?

Think it was mentioned in the product's thread that you can select (next/prev) songs, but you can't select playlists and iPod controls are still fully functional. Bro, think you are getting mixed up with the Neo.

I am also using the 6-CD Changer in the HU. It does come with the external CD Changer socket at the back too. To change between the 6-CD changer and the ipod, just press "CD" on the head unit, it will toggle between "CD" & "EX". CD is the 6-CD changer while EX is the external source i.e Ipod. One bad thing is that the Audiolink displays the song number annd timing incorrectly. It will continue with the timing even tho next song is played. Only if u press next then the timer will count back up frm zero and song number change.

Overall I'm quite satisfied as I can still control the Ipod frm the unit itself. I mounted a modified ipod holder, the Belkin tunedok Ipod holder, thru the hole where the glove compt lock is supposed to be and it's within reach. I have more than 6 playlists and Video playlists as well, so the Neo Ion isn't much better cos I can get this Audiolink cheaper than the Neo and still have to control thru the Ipod to be able to play all those playlists.

[QUOTE=airspeed]I was considering the Neo Ion SP before this, as the Neo allows you to have up to 6 playlist (it detects one playlist as one CD frm the external changer, ipod in this case. if i'm not wrong) and the "<CD" "CD>" allows you to switch between playlist (CDs). The steering buttons doesn't have that, only "up" "down" buttons to switch between songs...

I thouogh you can select your play list from the ipod and switch between the play list with the wheel audio control? No sure, pls help to confirm.
You said you are satisfied with the audiolink? Where and how much did you purchase the audiolink? If I get it from US, it will be USD120 +USD20(shipping).

Can select the playlist from Ipod, but only can change songs within the playlist from the wheel controls.
USD $105 after discount, but search thru MCS, I think I saw someone posting a link abt someone selling it from Taiwan, shd be cheaper. I couldn't find it again, so I just ordered from theRPMstore. Let me know if u're ordering from them, I have a discount coupon from the previous order.

1. With iPOD docking socket and additional headphone jack
So you can connect iPOD directly and have some control via the wheel. Track changing, skip, vol.
or you can connect your MP3 player via headphone jack, then no control vai the wheel, except vol.

News Flash: Spoke to Kelvin today.
Apparently if you got a 6 disc changer, the MP3 Audilink connectivity doesn't work. He had someone come in with this an hour ago and tried to install it but was told to go back to his audio shop to remove the 6disc changer first before triyng the MP3 player connection again. It takes 1 1/2hrs.
I will call him in a few days time to see if a solution has been found.

Are you refering to the built-in 6-disc changer? I don't think so right? Coz it's basically the factory head unit itself, so if it's removed then there is nothing for the Audilink to plug to. Conversely, if you are refering to an external 6-disc changer, then it should be a given because the Audilink plugs into the CD changer socket at the back of the factory head unit and therefore cannot co-exist with an external CD changer.
