i love how in the image there are 'callouts' like "better mileage" and "better torque" but they just point to random places on the image. to me thats a bad sign.

that's the crappiest vortex generator I've ever seen, looks like it'll break at the first turn of the rotor. the ppl that sell those ought to be shot

Yes it works. But to get the full effect you also have to add some VTECs to your car to take advantage of the extra air flow. I think you can get some extra VTECs at NAPA.

A while back Popular Mechanics bought and tested a bunch of these snake oil devices. Most actually reduced performance some were even dangerous. One of the turbo plates actually broke, was ingested by the engine and totally destroyed the engine.
Last year, a friend purchased a FORD SUV and the dealer convinced him that he could get the same mileage out of the biggest engine offered as the standard engine if they installed one of these pos's. Dealer only wanted $200 installed.

OK, maybe it's just me, but does anyone else spot the correlation of this scam item with the whole "tornado" doo-hickey that came out a few years ago?? Sounds like the exact same product, marketed for a different car. That was the FIRST thing I thought of when I saw this...
and no, it's not worth it.

When I look at these types of products, all I see is added turbulence. The tornado infomercials used to really crack me up. The inventor claimed to be a mechanical engineer. I guess passing with a D- is still passing and considered highly successful in China. He would use 2 2liter bottles connected to each other and one half filled with water. Then he'd turn it so all the water fell into the lower one like sand in an an hour glass. It was more or less a water hour glass. The first demonstration showed the water very slowly moving downward and it was very bubbly. When all the water got to the bottom he'd turn it back over to make a vortex and suddenly all the water would rush to the bottom one. He claimed the vortex made this possible and that is the same thing happening inside your intake manifold. People's jaws hit the floor. The world was in awe. Money suddenly lept from the paid actors pockets all across the crowd. What Captain Stupid doesn't know though is that there are actually real people with more than 3 brain cells that understand how and why this works.
The only reason his demo works is because it is a closed off system. No air or water can get in or out. Do you really want to weld your intake and exhaust closed and then try to get your exhaust and intake air to constantly swap places? I didn't think so. While he is trying to move water downwards, he is also trying to move the same volume of air upwards. We don't do this in an engine. Everything moves 1 way (for the real technical types don't try to elaborate on this one. Just go with it.). The vortex he creates merely makes a tunnel up the middle that the air can freely pass through so the water drains faster. That's it. If he had just drilled a hole in the top of each bottle for air to get in and out, he wouldn't need the vortex to get the same results.
Here's another thing to keep in mind. If the air is swirling going into the throttlebody, what happens to that swirl after it hits a plenum chamber or a branch inthe manifold where it splits off to several runners? There are certain places where air turbulence or tumble can actually be a benefit. This isn't it.

Velocity tuner!!! LOL!!! They go on to tell you how it increases velocity. No it doesn't. It slows it down. They "OFFICIALLY" suck! When I get the flowbench working again, I need to make one of these things just for the fun of it.

I mounted a couple of these at various places throughout my car, and I now get 50+ horsepower. Not only has it helped my car, but it's helped me in college. Mounted one of these babies on my laptop- +2 Ghz clock speed! My cell phone- 50 miles reception in every direction (with additional radiation filter, only 39.99)
