Um....you can reset the TRIP counter by pushing the black button above the display gauges...but it's unlikely you'll be resetting the ECU or odometer with it...
There are 2 buttons above the gauges (one on each side), one switches between A and B trip, and the other, if you hold for a couple seconds, will reset the trip counter.

hold down the right button, turn key on and keep holding until trip meter says test... turn key off. turn key back on and stomp the brake pedal about 20 times until the oil gauge moves and then everythig is reset.

Stomping the brake pedal is only going to clear the KAM memory.
Pushing the trip button while you turn the ignition to on doesn't clear anything but the diagnostic information that is in the guage cluster. As far as I know the fuel trims and other information is only reset with unhooking the battery.

I could be wrong but I have never seen a car that will let you reset the ECU via this method. I had a SVT Focus that would allow the same activities via the trip meter button, but it would not reset the ECU when doing so.

well, i don't have a scananlyzer, so i can't verify it myselft, so i'm just going to have to take mazdamaniac's word for it...and if there was someone's word on the forum i'd trust about this car, his would definately be one of them.

^^ Oh I know he does, and is one of the most knowledgable guys on this forum. I just wonder if he or anyone else has tested to make sure that is ready does this, never seen offical documentation about it like the KAM reset process, that is all.

This is indeed the weirdest meathod i've EVER heard of for resetting an ECU
Guess i'm used to the 90's fords where you just unplug that battery and stand on the brake for 10 seconds....hmm
