Hello and 2006 British Sales Figures
Hello, I am new to the group but I have owned my RX-8 for a while. I have a stock 04 yellow 6 sp. with grand touring package. I have been an avid sports car enthusiast for years and I really enjoy the RX-8.
I have enjoyed reading the posts for several weeks and want to thank everyone for putting down their experiences and insights. Reading them has been quite entertaining and informational.
I know from reading some of the older posts that sales figures are often discussed here. I don't know how many of you are familiar with the British Publication JAPANESE PERFORMANCE but in issue 65 they give sales figures for sports car sales. The sales figures are for the UK from January through March. I am sorry if they have been posted before. As a newbie please don't flame me too badly. I think it is pretty interesting:
1. Mazda MX-5 2157
2. Mazda RX-8 1731
3. Subaru WRX/STI 669
4. Toyota Celica 490
5. Honda Civic Type R 424
6. Toyota MR-2 403
7. Nissan 350Z 295
8. Mitsubishi EVO 259
9. Honda S2000 248
10.Daihatsu Copen 77
I know there has been a lot of discussion about RX-8 sales figures and how slow they seem to be in the US Market, but does anyone know if sales are globally slow? From these numbers, it seems that at least in the UK Market, it is doing quite well (at least from these figures).
Thanks again and keep up the great posts!

Global sales are low compared to Mazda's original sales goals. UK sales have been good for a while and Mazda in particular is doing rather well there, it's just not a big enough market to make up for poor sales here. However, hopefully it's things like this that will keep Mazda making and improving the RX-8, despite poor North American sales.

Thank you very much! I was reading in a Greek magazine the car sales in Greece and the RX8 is no. 1 in the sport car category. I try and get the official figures and post them.
