Got my 2006 Phantom Blue RX-8
Purchased a Phantom Blue RX-8 3 weeks ago and I love the car!!! 6 speed AT w/the GT package. Love the way this car drives and handles. The extra HP in the 06 is nice too. To date, no problems encountered that I have seen on numerous posts. Check out the pics of my Phantom RX at the end of the thread!!!

Congrats on your 8. I saw a phantom blue at my mazda dealer while i was waiting for my new spark plug. Really nice color. I can look like a darkish blue or look greenish in different shades of light and absolutely beautiful in the sunlight.
Nice Choice in color.

It prolly didn't go up that much since the people behind HP ratings change the rating of HP this year I believe. Look at how the MT went down in HP even tho it's the same as the 04 and 05. Correct me if I am wrong.

I plan to post some pics of the Phantom soon! On a side note, I didn't even have the car for 2 weeks and while driving on our Los Angeles freeways I got a flat in the right front tire. Called raodside assisstance (since there is no spare) and he was able to plug it to get me home. Went to my dealership the next day to have the tire repaired properly, but when they took it off the rim whatever I had run over had sliced the tire and it needed to be replaced. Of course the tire was note covered in the warranty so I dished out $350.00 for a new tire. In my frustration, I emailed Customer Relations at MazdaUSA and explained what happened. Received an email a couple days later expressing their apologies and asked me to send the invoice for the cost of the tire and they would reimburse me! Needless to say, I am very impressed with the way Mazda treats their car owners.

Congratulations and welcome. You'll have to give us some feed back on how the 6spd auto does...
$350 for one tire! Does the new RX-8's still have Bridgestone Potenzas on them or what? At least you got reimbursed - very nice of Mazda.

Still getting used to the 6-speed AT. Personally I feel that it accelerates better when I put it in tiptronic. The paddle shifters on the steering wheel can be fun, but awkward when turning. As for the tires, they have put the Dunlop SP Sport 8090 low profile tires on the 18 in rim. I did price check on the net for them and the cheapest I found them was around $290.00 ea

You can go to any Firestone/Bridgestone dealer and buy road hazard insurance for your Bridgestone tires. Dunlop may offer the same thing.

Yeah I had a flat tire just after 2 months that was not repairable. I went with 2 new Kumho Ecsta SPT's...... like $100 a tire!
now I am running all 4 Kumho Ecsta SPT's for the street. great price for a decent street tire. ($87 from Tire Rack .com pluss shipping)
