E-Mail Notification's

we have no responsibility to make sure you get email notifications what so ever. in fact any resposibility we have to forum members ends when they suggest things like firing us.
i dont know if i can fix it or not since i have never been an Admin before. I know that there was a point where no one was getting them and now most are but some are not. does that sound like a forum issue to you? a couple people have asked me to check it out for them and i have already started.

Sorry to get you all riled. I have a lot of respect for your input on this forum. Maybe this should of been addressed specifically to the admins.
FYI...My initial remark was a wise *** remark so I guess I deserved for you to yell a bit.

BUT, I just switched my notification email address to a different account at a different provider, so someone post a reply to this thread and we'll see what happens

OK... I just got an email notification after switching my email address to another provider (iPowerWeb). I was using a Comcast address, which stopped receiving notifications months ago.
I'll let it go for a few more notifications to make sure it's consistent, then switch back to Comcast. If Comcast then fails as before, we know it's a provider-specific problem.... right? Again, perhaps the forum's SMTP server got itself blacklisted on one of the various spam/relay lists...? Or a DNS problem? Or...?

The iPowerWeb-hosted email address works fine. Got 6+ notifications right away. I'm back on ComCast again, so we'll see if that fails as before.
Can you Admins receive/see mails which bounces back? There might be a clue in there, as most blacklists return an error message. I don't know how the forum software works, but the forum's SMTP server should return an error message as well if it runs into probs, including DNS difficulties.
Do you know the IP of the forum's SMTP server? I think you can go to places like http://dsbl.org/listing and see if it's blacklisted.
Then again I barely understand any of this stuff, so don't laugh at me if I'm way off base here, lol...

The tech support of the forum's hosting company should be able to look into it and see if their SMTP server is blacklisted, is having DNS problems (doubtful since it's been months), etc. I doubt there's anything you Admins here can do... it's really a problem for the hosting company to fix (assuming all my assumptions aren't totally off-base, lol).

HeelnToe,
I've always used Adelphia for my email and mine stopped working a few months back.
I might try switching to some free email (suggestions?) to see if adelphia is the problem.

Yeah Baby!!
Never ever have I been so excited to see that someone had replied to Klegg's blog. :p
Email subscriptions are BACK!
Turns out it was just my isp (adelphia) who wasn't digging the notifications.
Thanks to Zoom, I got on gmail and all is well. :D
