International RX-8 Club
What do you think about an International RX-8 Club? There certainly is a lot of interest World-wide in the RX-8. If we were to consider a club, it would naturally start off small and grow. Most importantly, it would be a club that would be "owned and governed" by its members and be a not-for-profit organization. I am sure some will attempt to start one motivated by profit not by passion for the car.
I have been involved in a number of car clubs and would be interested in helping to get this off the ground f there is enough interest.
I envision starting by having a monthly newsletter for members that hopefully would grow into a full International Magazine. Additionally, I see local chapters developing and a "coming together" for a International get-together each year.
Let me know what your thoughts are and please vote for what you think would work. If you say no or it depends, tell us why in a reply. Thanks.

Maybe?? What would convince you to join?
Thanks wakeech. I was hoping that people visiting here would:
1) VOTE and,
2) Add comments as to what they would like to see come out of a club like this. You can see, a number have said "maybe" but didn't say why they sselected maybe instead of yes. Why?
Please post why you selected "maybe" and what benefits you would like to see. Thanks.:p

Sounds fun- as long as it wasn't strictly racing or anything like that. I would see it somewhat like the Miata clubs that pop up everywhere- stressing interest in the RX-8 engine itself, how it works, interesting modifications people have made, how much fun it is to drive- not an annoying "my car is better than yours" club like some of them can be.
And right away I'd like to volunteer to help any way I can with a newsletter- it's what I do for a living, already!

I would join, it's a great idea.
Would you have to own an 8 to belong, or just any rotary powered car. Or would there be no ownership requirement?
I also agree with Elara on her comments about not making it all about racing. It could be a great outlet for the exchange of ideas and materials concerning even basic subjects like general maintenance.
Perhaps it could be used to broker deals with different aftermarket rotary comapnies like Petit, M2, RX7.com etc...

RX-8 Only
You bring up an interesting point. There are several enthusiast groups withi the Mazda family; Miatas, Current Rotary Owners, MazdaSpeed, MPS Mazda6's, now RX-8 evolving and others.
There is some preliminary discussions going on about a possible International, all Mazda, enthusiasts get together in Las Vegas in about a year. Nothing is in concrete but what would you think about an event like this? It would run from a Thursday to a Sunday, have all kinds of events for every marque, track events at LVMS, a live concert, meals, vendors, and so on.
If there was such an event, would you attend?
What else would you like to see at en event like this?
