Moderator Shift Change

Although overall the moderators and super moderators and *God like moderators* do an admiral job here, it might be time for a shift change. Bring in a few newer moderators without some of the *stuffy* ideas this older group have. It might, since it is Spring and a time for new beginnings, give the 'ol Forum and bit of a face lift. Get a few new ideas. Let some more *progressive* conversation thread instead of the *iron hand* approach that this group sometimes rules with. A forum isn't as much about moderators approach as it is about the participants. *A little less action and a little more conversation*

We bring in new moderators all the time. And no, the rules are not going to change any time soon.

I think it's better this way personally. It would be kind of weird to see you guys "out of power" anyway. For the most part I think you guys do a fantastic job. Although, maybe a few more of them might be a good idea, though it seems you guys have been working on this.

Other than street racing and naked women what "progressive" threads is this group missing?

For somene who has only 18 posts and seems to hate the RX-8 in general, you seem awfully worried about what goes on at an RX-8 board. Did we somehow insult you? Sounds an awful lot like you got called on something, and now you're pissed off about it. In which case, you need to take it up with admin instead of posting thinly veiled complaints about it.

As we start realizing we need them, we add them- and all one has to do to become one is send a pm to Toadman or Omicron (or even one of the other mods, in reality) about why you want to help out. There's a new mod or two about every month or so, or close to it

Some of us will be missing in action quite a bit over the next 6 months or so, so you'll probably be seeing a few more added soon.

The number of posts has nothing to do with a persons interest or involvement with the 8. That is some of the attitude in question. I find that when a person, say the Z car fellow recently, posts something that is somewhat unkind, instead of folks just letting it die in a few replies, moderators have to *control* the folks on this forum from jumping on. If members don't like what is posted, just don't reply. It will not have legs of it's own. Moderators seem to ride in like *White Nights* to save the rest of us. I feel that is unnecessary. Is that *unveiled* enough?

I'm thinking it would have been much more 'settling' to have a reply from a Staff something like this:

"Thanks much for your participation and input! We always welcome suggestions. We can 'staff' this thread, and get some consensous from the board owners and see what we can do. I see you are new here - it's great when people come in excited with ideas on how to make things better! Thanks again for using the forums!"

A little Consideration and 'nice-ness' goes a long way, Elara.

:D

[edit] There you go! Something like this should have been your first reply:

It would have difused this whole thread, and not scared-off a newbie. The board lives and dies by it's membership. "new blood" is vital.

Do a search on this guy's threads. Right, a newbie. This was only posted to cause problems. As he just stated, he objects to banning people that post things like

your car sucks for 1

for 2 i said i bought the 8 for my wife, not myself

3 i dont check the spelling, as this is a forum not legal documents

and im 34 i dont think my father who died when i was 8 nor my brother i dont have got the car for me....

and to the stupid ******* moderator that wanted to get pissy....one of your guys you call so great actually did come in to the z,evoand wrx forums and start calling out everyone to race his slow little rx8....

get a life you ******* ****....to drive that thing you would definatly be gay....its no differant than a miata....******* queers think they (the 8 and the miata) are so cute

**** off

And that is why he made this lovely little post. Because he's apparently angry about that guy being banned yesterday. If you'd care to read any more of the troll's posts like the above, from before he as warned, even, I'll be happy to quote them here as well.

I'm nice when people are nice back. I have no patience for trolls or pot stirrers who get a rise out of causing issues like this.

Yikes - it seems you are privy to background about him that I am not.

I would've just deleted this thread, then banned him for a week
:D

hehe!

And with that, I'm going to just go ahead and close this before it gets ugly. RotaryGoober, in the future, if you have a problem with an administrative problem, take it to admin, and don't post about it on the boards.
