Just fix it ,,,,,Please, Please, just fix it!
Thank you.

I've noticed it seems to happen after you make a new post.

I like the OPTIONS in the menu, but if you could change it so that all we had to do was CLICK on it for New posts....well, that would rock!

(after you fix the inital problem of course)

please get rid of the dumb menu. I bet 95% of the forum just wants the regular new posts, not all the options.

pleeeeeeeease.

If you are not going to change the New Posts from a menu to a single-click option then at least move it to another location so the drop-down menu is NOT BEHIND AN AD BANNER. Swap it with the FAQ link or something. It's a PITA where it is.

further improvement

An even better improvement for me would be to get an email notification everytime there is an addition to a thread i'm interested in. Several discussion groups have this option, but I'd be more active on this RX-8 list if this also were possible here.

As stated above this feature is already available. Go to your "user cp" in the menu bar above and mess with your subscription settings.

it's acutally only one particular ad that gets in front of the menu, so just hit F5 and do it again

It usually takes 4 or 5 refreshes before that ad isn't chosen.
I presume that Synaptic paid to be "seeded" more often than the other advertisers.

Could someone please explain why this hasn't been fixed yet? It's just a simple change. If someone gives me access i'll do it.

Yes. The one-click was much more convenient.

And the problem is only with Synaptic.

So here's a vote for return of the one-click and a request to have the Synaptic ad reformatted.

How many weeks has this issue gone unfixed now? Is it really that big of an undertaking to move the button, or modify it? Would someone please take care of this already, or are we all just blowing hot air for nothing?

Also, is it just me or does the search feature not work quite as effectivly as it used to?

WOW! I just tried viewing the forum w/ IE...Horrible. I now know what you mean - how the new-posts drop-down goes BEHIND the banner ad.

This isn't an issue when viewing the forum while "logged out".

For anyone who uses IE and doesn't have l33t plug-ins like ad block you can add one line to your hosts file to block the offending ad. Doing so is outside the scope of this post and left as an exercise to the user.

The only reason taht the Synaptic ad pops up like that is because it's a flash ad. The rest are all .gifs. If the webmasters were to get more Flash advertisers, then they would all block the drop down. There is probably code in this ad that makes it the top most layer of anything on the page. The only solution would be to recode the ad or to move the New Posts to another spot.

Or you can just make the new posts page just a one-clicker instead of a drop down menu...that would solve the problem too

Ugh. Just add "0.0.0.0 www.rscc.com" to your hosts file and be done with it.
