We need 2 new Lounge sub-forums

No, I'm not requesting forums for subs; sandwiches, alternate players, boats, etc....

I'm requesting 2 separate sub-forums for Religion and Politics. Those topics are of interest to many, and it would allow them to post away to their hearts content in their own sub-forums without being censored, shut down, etc., or bogging down other threads.

Same rules as everything else; keep it civil and on-topic.

Good idea, but unfortunately it's been suggested. The moderators weren't too open about it either, they were under the impression it would get out of order. I hope you can convince them! I'm Aoshi Shinomori and I support this message :D

some may find what they need in a non-car forum...such as www.usmessageboard.com/forums

It's ALL politics and religion.

As far as I'm concerned, politics are just like religion; perhaps it is one rung down on the ladder of things-people-are-REALLY-attached-to (though I think bath have to do with Philosophy in general rather than being separate topics). I tried suggesting that politics be added to that rule to other mods, but nothing ever came of it.

My point being, good luck. I seriously doubt there will be a politics sub forum, and there won't be a religion sub forum.

why on earth would you want to discuss religion on an RX8 site?

go to www.god.com if you want to do that.

Well as RX8 owners, perhaps we have a different take on things than most? Maybe because we have demonstrated that we have different taste in cars? I don't know....for the most part I've been impressed with the general level of civility and class among the 8 owners on this board and I find it more enjoyable to have a discussion with them rather than wade into the infantile 'quote wars' that tend to take place in religion-specific forums.

Same thing with politics.

I see no harm in having sub-forums for these topics....and I don't believe they would "get out of hand" either. Everytime any thread has exhibited a slight leaning towards "out of hand" a brief note of warning from a moderator takes care of it pronto.

I say give it a go, and see what happens.

it only takes one immature person to screw the whole thing up and get everyone at arms... even if 99.9% of people are cool, there is still .1% that will get everyone, normally in good standing, angry with one another.

Well then why not ban that one immature person? Why punish the 99.9% because of one jerk? This is one of my pet peeves; the way the world has this idea that we need to drag everybody down to the lowest level just to accommodate the worst among us. All we do when we do that, is empower those kinds of people and give them a big ego boost. We give them the ability to shape the world around themselves.

I say GIVE IT A GO. Show some courage! Fortitude Men!!! Onward, Upward!!! If someone trys to muck it up, then slap them silly in the name of peace and press on! :D

Whose hand do they have to be in, or out of anyways? The whole point of having separate sub-forums for those topics is that only those people who want to read and/or participate will go in there instead of these topics popping up in other threads or forums. I would consider that to be very much IN hand, and much better than censorship or blocking it altogether.

I don't know...... Religion and politics have a way of making people upset in a big way. I think that's best left to another forum. The bad feeling from that side of the forum can easily spill over into ther other parts of the forum.
