Compression results in ...

had mazda do a comp test ... they said it was fine but wanted to get another opinion

04 w/82k (manuel)
R1=292 rpm 7.2 6.9 6.2
R2=271rpm 7.9 7.7 7.6

5 is fine with a supersonic cranking speed of 300rpms? no, but maybe you misunderstood him.

maybe that is their standard but i would be a little bit concerned that you have a full point difference on the one rotor between faces. that seems borderline low even for average cranking speeds to me(most crank around or slightly below 250rpms).

i thought it was mabye because of the rpm difference ....something to worry about?

cranking speed shouldn't vary all that much so i would assume that one rotor face is having some issues.

@292 minimum is 7.6, standard is 9.2

you are at 6.2...

That front housing is all but blown.

The rear is borderline.

At that 292RPM your front is completely gone, and your rear is not strong at 272RPM (passing but low), see the numbers below and attached diagram.

Factory Specs:
Standard @ 250RPM: 8.5kgf/cm2
Minimum @ 250RPM: 6.9kgf/cm2
Standard difference in chambers: within 1.5kgf/cm2
Standard difference in rotors: within 1.0kgf/cm2

Front Specs you should have:

Standard @ 292RPM: 9.2kgf/cm2
Minimum @ 292RPM: 7.5kgf/cm2

Rear Specs you should have:
Standard @ 271RPM: 8.7kgf/cm2
Minimum @ 271RPM: 7.2kgf/cm2

that sucks... im not noticing any issues so i guess when i start having them ill get a rebuild.. Possible a bad pump or coils can give bad readings? it has a gutted cat, new spark plugs n wires w premix

No...

Get it rebuilt now before you pop an apex seal which could end up setting you back an extra $2000.

rebuild questions

There are 3 different shops that mainly deal with rx7's by me and im looking for a rebuild on my 04'. My question is i really dont know the experience these shops have rebuilding out motors..... Is rebuilding a 7 motor similar to ours? If there good at the rx7 rebuilds would that make them qualified to rebuild out motors? I wouldnt mind sending my motor to be built but then i have to pay for the labor of someone removing it and installing it so financially it might not be worth it (im not that mechanically inclined to remove the motor and install a new one)

Im sure they can rebuild the engine for you, remember a cheap rebuild is like a bottle of stop leak its a waste of money and wont last long.

With that in mind there are only a slight handful of reputable shops I would ever let touch my engine and for that your pay for it. It all depends on how deep your pockets go. For that matter everything about our cars require deep pockets and patience.

My recomendations

Pettit
Pineapple
RR
MM

If you can't afford to do it right, then just don't do it.

Anyone can pull a motor with basic hand tools, and instructions. Try attempting it, only way to become more mechanically inclined is applying yourself. And it will save you a lot of cash in the process

For builders find a highly regarded one. personally use Pineapple Racing but have heard great things about Pettit, And others

If your unwilling to pull your own motor RR is your best bet.
