Me along with a few others will be meeting at 7:00am May 16th at the RIM shopping center( Bass Pro Shops). We will depart there at 7:30am and arrive in Kerrville at 8:30am. Let me know if you will be meeting so I know how many to expect and wait for.

Looking at the map (LINK), it appears there's a sonic just down the road from the hotel. I think we should all head up there Friday night after dinner and take over the place. How cool would it be to have 25+ 8's taking up the entire parking lot of Sonic. Plus, you can get something awesome to drink!

We'll be coming in that morning as well, don't know that we'll be able to meet up with you guys to leave the rim by 730, but don't be surprised to see a silver 8 in your mirrors bringing up the rear halfway there
Oh and to update the list, no rooms needed(im sure it's too late anyway) and we'll be staying for dinner sat night

Do you plan to use radios? I think they are important for safety alerts (road kill, deer, road debris, LEOs) plus its fun and entertaining to talk during the drive.

Radio's however are very useful during the drive and is one of things on the Rules/Tips page
http://www.thetexas8.com/meet-info/rulestips.html
Some people have mentioned that radios should be required, however I do not want to have people get angry that show up to the meet and not be able to go just because they dont have a radio. While they are great safety tools, radio's are not necessary for drivers to be safe. In some instances they are actually distractions given a driver does not have a navigator.

Just regular hand held ones you can buy off the shelf at walmart. I got the expensive 80 dollar set that has like a 20 mile range and a bunch of useless features, but the 20 dollar set should be more than sufficient.
As an aside they also come in handy for local meets as well, especially if your locale is as big into cruises as the DFW crew is.

In addition to Riley's comments, I might add that you should look for a set of radios that operate on the FRS (Family Radio Service) channels.
To those who already have radios, I would like to suggest that you bring both of your radios so you can share with someone who doesn't have one. You don't want to take a blind corner only to run into a fallen tree branch, large rock, stopped local car, loose cattle standing in the middle of the road, or large roadkill just because you were driving without the benefit of radio warnings from drivers ahead of you.

But you do have to make the "ksh" noise and say "over". If you don't, your radio won't transmit your message properly!

Def up for a night run. I'm trying to get there early on Friday to get some footage of scenery etc. I think the DFW crew is planning on leaving here between 10-11 on Friday and we should be there around 4-5.
Though on that road we need to be careful of deer. I specifically remember seeing a deer or two on the side of the road on the way to Stonehenge. Also that’s more of a scenic route than a curvy one, but still fun none the less.
