Ahhh RotaryGod, you finally get to meet the man that started the Synthetic oil thread in the Gulf forum :)

9krpmrx8 02-12-2010 09:55 AM

So who is doing what guys? Has there been any delegation of duties in terms of the sponsors, etc.? Or is everything in order? Just curious.

Well, right now I'm sorta in wait mode. We've contacted several sponsors in our area as well as MNA for the zoom zoom box, the t-shirt is going through a final design phase as well as trying to find a vendor to meet our needs. The hotel has already been finalized. So the two pieces that need to completed are the food and route timeline. If you like, it would be awesome to have people in the SA area work on sponsors as well. Do you have any recommendations for friday night, and then sat night? I think we were going to stop on the route for food on sat at some bbq place that grunge recommended could accomadate us?

9krpmrx8 02-12-2010 11:50 AM

Okay, I will try and get us SA guys on the same page so we can work on sponsors.

Hey RotaryGod, glad to hear you plan on making it out to the event! Do you atleast plan on hanging out that Saturday when we do the cruise and dinner? The cruise is a blast and we will be raffling off prizes at the dinner.

That requires committee approval. Mrs RG is the committee.

RX7s Or Not ??

*I've been contacted to notify our membership but read mixed signals on this site. We are a mixed group of RXs-7s & 8s, w/open events mthly. Can someone in charge let me know if this is a preferably *8* only event before I post anything on our website ??

*Are the 2 Sat. drives different or the same route ??

My post quoted above was kind of a joke because some people have bitched in the past about non-8's attending.

I'm not in charge but it has been open in the past and I am cool with that. The bigger the better as far as I'm concerned but it has to be one or the other IMO and I do understand drawing the line somewhere because I have been on runs before where it becomes a cluster F*&k because everyone is waiting on some 16 Y/O in an automatic Tercel to catch up.

But I believe Riley should make that call. or dare I say "Poll"

The route that we are taking on Feb 20th is a pre run to see how long the route will actually take. I will then give the input to Riley and Seatown as to what route should be taken. If you would like to join us on the 20th it is open to any and all vehicles.

rotarygod 02-12-2010 06:42 PM

I don't have an RX-8 and have never had one. I am a moderator on this board though. Does that count? I have a '90 RX-7 that I'll be in. I don't plan to show up in my wife's Camry.

Seatown and I have discussed this and the event will be open to RX7's.

You dare not sir!

PS. The event is really co lead by Seatown and Myself. I took on a stronger roll last year because he was working through some issues that demanded alot of his time and attention. But given that the event was his orginal idea he is really the "president" of the meet. We do ALOT of talking in the background that few people see. I tend to be the voice on the forums since he doesnt like to post alot at work :)

quicksilver34 02-13-2010 01:18 AM

Hey what the age limit? Or we r all just gonna chill on the nights?
I'm hoping my car will be done for this meet..

There isnt really an age limit, but I'd suggest being at least 17. Remember you'd be a minor stayin in a hotel with no guardain. We've had some younger people in the past without issue, but I knew them personally so I wasnt too worried about it. My biggest concern with someone that young is road experaince and maturity. Aka are they mature enough to know when they are being irresponsible on the road. (Granted even some older people dont know that) Like 9k said above, I dont want some 16 year old in a terrcel holding the whole meet up.

Yes, there will most likely be some drinking. Do not expect to be given any.

jiggawha1 02-13-2010 05:30 PM

To Scott- I have contacted Mazda North Park and sent the service Manager info on the event, but I think you should go talk with shawn cause they don't really like me haha.

I have a good friend at the Mazda in New Braunfels, so I will speak with him to see if he wants to help out. Does anyone know of a shop in SA that does Rotary work? I havent heard of any, at least ones that really specialize in it, willing to maybe contribute.

This should be open to any rotary powered cars for sure. That shouldnt even be in question, cause obviously rx-8s are the pansies of the rotary world haha

Ok cool, Sean has always treated me well over the years and my company has bought a few mini vans in cash so they are always sweating us to buy more. We will work something out.

Thanks for the invitation 2/20. :yelrotflm

Actually I meant, ........
Are the 2 drives on SAT.APR.31 *10am & *1pm both the same ?
Or is each one a different route ? :dunno:

Since some of us are 2hrs. away, hotel or not, a *morning/afternoon repeat vs. a *morn. w/different afternoon drive is useful info. for those looking @time/distance. :biggthump

Ok, here is how it goes down: Friday is arrival day. We meet at the hotel at 7:30 to head out for a group dinner that night. Sat is all day driving. We meet in the hotel lobby at 9:30am for a drivers meeting and then head out at 10. All groups will be leaving at this time. There is not a seperate route. Its just one long run with scheduled stops along the way for breaks/lunch/ and scenary (not to mention APPLE PIE) We basically make one big loop and get back to the hotel between 4-5 to take a break/clean up for the group dinner on Sat night followed by whatever the group decides to do after.

Ross_Dawg 02-15-2010 10:13 PM

Hmm I would love to make it but that is 1 week before finals... to be honest I'll have to wait and see until the date gets closer, but I'm really interested in going!

Go ahead and sign me up but put a maybe next to my name.

WTBRotary! 02-15-2010 10:14 PM

jzamarripa 02-16-2010 08:29 PM

Have you guys heard of this company in San Antonio called Alamo Rotary? I heard they are the main ones that do rotary work here.
