Because apparently you haven't been as observant of the wildlife in that area. On several previous State Meets (the ones based out of Kerrvile) there have been not one, but several, sitings of deer carcasses on the road from being hit by cars. Not to mention the huge signs with leaping deer on them every 10 miles. Don't think there have been any deer sitings in McKinney in about 100 years or so.... You hit a deer, your car is done, no questions asked.

If you want to do a night run, do it in the D/FW area, preferably with at least one other person so somebody can call in if/when something bad happens.
