I agree with Thomas and Creto... a night run in this part of the hill country is not advised. The route is covered with blind curves and if you havent noticed the deer are not afraid of the cars and often congregate near the road and if you didn't already know, the deer are attracted to the headlights... "deer in headlights"
Sillywhitegirl had a deer hit her jeep a few month back... thats right it hit her, it was on the side of the road and when we went to pass it, it jumped and hit front fender causing about 2500 in damage (and thats with a hookup)
I personally have hit a deer when I was in NC and it wasn't pretty. Did about 10k damage to my Civic, the whole right side of the car to include both windshields and sunroof had to be replaced.... oh yeah and the deer got up like nothing happened and ran off

Yeah I have driven back from the hill country at dusk very nervously. I went to watch my sons football game in Medina (part of our run) and the drive back at dark was scary. You will see deer on the side of the road every other mile or so.
Not to mention there are no lights what so ever out in the hill country so dark means dark.

My sister-in-law had something very similar happen to her. The deer ran into her passenger door. WTH!

Just an FYI for everyone, we got the private banquet room Friday night at 7pm at Buzzie's BBQ for anyone not meeting at the hotel at 6:30 or not staying Friday night.
Basically you can order off the menu and then go sit down.

I had to drive a company car before buying my Wrangler in Indiana-it had 250k miles on it and had hit four deer. Probably had a LOT to do with why I went for the Wrangler instead of the 8 til I got back to Texas! Also had a lot to do with how QUICKLY I found/bought the Wrangler, haha, try explaining driving THAT to people.

Once I drove at night through Ozona down through Rocksprings, Camp wood, and to Leakey.
About every five miles it was five deer on on side, 4 on the other side, and/or 3 in a line running full bore.
Going home with nice afternoon weather West of Kerrville toward Rocksprings, deer and varmints were just hanging out on the road like the were getting ready for a Bambi remake.
The daytime is tricky enough in this deer capitol, and if you see a deer running across don't watch him, watch where he came from cause it's very likely more are coming.

Hey guys, sry I haven't been active here AT ALL lol, just wanted to give ya'll a heads up that my 8 is down AGAIN! Goin onto motor #3 and I highly doubt it will be finished in time. I am however considering bringing the STI filming crew so we could get some good shots and vids and put a decent video together to use in future event promotions. Let me know if yall are down for that.

*edit* I just checked the date against my calendar: I'm not going to make it due to the autocross club putting on an autocross at the Nismo Fiesta.

I went in for a compression check this morning (99543mi) and front rotor is lowish and rear rotor is on the verge of being low. I told them sometimes it stalls when it's warm and sometimes it takes a while longer to crank when hot. We shall see what they say in a few hours when the CA boys wake up and get to work.
If it's getting replaced, I'll need to ride with someone.

I was wondering if any one else was going to the meet from Houston? Trying to make the journey feel a little shorter. Also, if the main hotel is booked, does any one else know of a alternate hotel.
