I've traveled all over the country to different Rotary events and by far this is one of the most unique event with cars actually drive the one of the famous roads in the country.
There is no better sound and image of watching 40+ years of Rotary History going down the road through hundreds of curvy roads of Tennessee Valley.
This years event will be covered by Modified Magazine.

And I'd love to go but I don't think I can afford the gas to go... I'd love to and it sounds like so much fun...

And I wouldnt mind S.A. but id hate for us to change up the maps etc and not drive as much.

I will agree with you on transmisson, but I should be getting a manual soon, and lets not forget Ferrari is pretty much DONE with manuals... The new Italia 458 doesnt even come with a option for manual, their gearbox can shift in .04 seconds... way faster than any human /end thread jack

and yeah. i will never EVER be able to shift as fast as a computer. and computer controlled clutchless manual is without a doubt the fastest way around a track. but there is some soul lost. for a drivers car, ill shift on my own. but soley for racing, an 'auto' is faster and will make less mistakes

As of this moment, depending on pricing and accomadations, I think the we will be sleeping and partying in SA. It wont actually detract from the driving, it will actually add more of it since SA is a bit farther from the three sisters than kerrvile is.

Have yall been to Sherlocks Pub in your area? we have one here it is a great place to eat hangout and have a few beverages. I know one of the managers maybe can get us some tables reserved? just an idea for Friday evening...

well it being a friday night... we could (depending what time the DFW crew and others get here) hit up biff's in a BIG RX-8 way.... Biff Buzzby's is a local burger joint that hosts a car meet every friday in a decent sized parking lot... and then from there we can head to Sherlocks or elsewhere
We can talk to the management at sherlocks about reserving the front row of parking for the 8's .... and/or if not Biff's we can also try out Bun N' Barrel, that is a place I haven't done in a while

That being said, I don't favor mixing with a general car show. I'm not trying to be judgmental, but I've found that the crowds are completely different than RX8 people. Most people there tend to be ricers or gear heads (not using the term negatively, just not sure what else to call them). I much prefer the local atmosphere and 8 drivers in general. Not to say that there aren't cool people at your car shows, I've just had bad experiences local to the DFW area with that sort of thing.

So basically what I was trying to say is that I prefer to hang out with "drivers" (yes you are included in this group WTB, even though we give you crap about it)
instead of gear heads (people that are very good at mechanical)
or ricers (people that like to do street races)
That being said either of those types could be a driver (someone who enjoys driving) at the same time, its just rare that you find an all in one person.
