Fuel Pump Change
Anyone around Savannah have the fuel pump access special service tool? I am at Roebling Road, just started fuel cut out at almost full tank, have a pump on order for tomorrow morning, but need to get this one out.
Car is 2004, 100,000 miles, original pump. Even if I stay off the track, I am concerned about making it back home (300 miles).
Any suggestions appreciated.

you should be fine driving on a regular road.
I have never used that special tool--what worked for me is using a VERY dull big chisel and a rubber hammer. There are little holes in the top part of that plastic ring--flood them with penetrating oil/wd 40 etc and let is set for a min or two. Then with the chisel ( repeat very dull--very very dull) mimic an impact tool with the rubber mallet. After a little while--using different areas on the ring--it will start to loosen. You may break one or 2 fins but thats ok

Option 2 was a pair of channel locks and a huge tire iron. Worked great. Did use the penetrating oil too.. Will post pictures of the set-up when I get them from Levent. This was after tap tap tap did not work. The steady pressure from the iron did the trick.
Now, if I could just get the car through Turn 4 in the right order, leading with the left tail light is just not working for me like it should....

Final data.
No pictures, but here is what worked very very well.
Pull the seat, pull the panel. Spray penetrating oil on the cap, paying particular attention to the holes. Then, put a pair of channel locks (or even better vise grips) on the sheet metal, near the door. This is your fulcrum. Have someone hold it from the passenger side. Take you tire iron (chosen for the very large flat end), place the end on one of the ridges, and against the pliers. You can now exert consistent pressure. Be patient, it will start to move. You can tap on it to encourage it to move, but it worked for me just from pressure. I gave up tapping after 20 minutes of no moving.
After that, replace pump, put it all back together, run it. It stumbled the first few laps, then cleaned up fine and ran strong.
MPG is up, power is up, just need to fix the tail light issue.
