I have the same dissapointment as the above guys, i would have gone with dba4000 single piece slotted and just found weight savings elsewhere, if i knew i was only saving 1.8lbs.
The quality does look great though. |

The rears seem to turn a bit blue at the disc fingers by the hub... They look good, but dunno if i'm wow'd by it now having it. Thx for weighing them. I figured they felt almost the same during the install... Also disappointed here, was expecting more :(

Originally the weights listed initially was based on previous projections and projects that GiroDisc has made. Basically, unless you use carbon, this is as light as it gets while still keeping it very strong, floating, and safe. Girodisc made them as best as possible. And they did not cut any corners or compromise safety. And others that have attempted this have failed. My stock front rotors weigh in at 18.5 lbs. These weigh in at 15.5. 3 lbs of rotational mass is pretty damn good. As well as they are 2 piece floating... Again 3 lbs in the front...not sure on the rears yet...have to test. I am pretty happy with my rotors. But yeah...carbon 10lbs rotors would be pretty amazing. But I do not have $20K to drop on something like that. My 2 cents -Adam |

*rears are 4.5lbs lighter than OEM (per rotor) From the first page of this thread. For future sales, don't say stuff like this if it's not 100% sure. For me i'm happy with the disc's, I guess they will work out great at the track and they still are a little bit lighter then OEM disc's =) |

Sure but from our perspective (europe) they violated some commerce-e-commerce laws and should make amend\refund us the difference.
We may seem strange at times, living in the old continent... but i swear it's just the legal system lol! |

On sunday the disc are going to be tested at the swedish track Mantorp Park and my "The Stig" are going to try them out also. He has tested different racing brakes for decades (in both sprint and endurance racing, touring cars and formula cars), lets see if he approves them =) Actually he did give my old combo tumbs up for being almost stock; Motul RBF660, Steel braided brake lines and Hawk DTC-60. |

Enjoy! -Adam For me it was my worst trackday ever, engine probably blown, have some theories but havent got time yet to start working with it. even got an full blown tire and broke an RPF1 rim. all this in 4 laps in the first heat. somebody up there must hated me yesterday. =( But the brakes was superb. didnt get any chanse to heat up the pads and rotors to really test them but I had to adjust my braking points many meters on that track even with cold brakes. So they are good for all here to know. |

So its not my best times in life but that's how life is. Time to start my project Time Attack RX-8 little bit earlier then expected. Right now im not an fan of Renesis.... 13B REW Turbo sound just better and better. |

are there any brake pads that GiroDisc recommends to stay clear of? I was thinking of running Ceramic pads for street duties (im daily driving the rx8 atm and sick of the brake dust from the HP+) Then a more aggressive set for track days? What does everyone recommend? |
i'd go with the same pad manufacturer and different compounds.
Let's say hawk hps for the streets and ht-10 (or hp+ on street tyres) for the track. Still waiting on a reply here anyway. |
