Can it zoom? or does that depend on our own video cam?
Also, how is the kit provided by VR different from the kit at http://www.autoxcam.com/ ?
And is it waterproof? not that im going to drive my car underwater, but another similar camera i found is entirely waterproof.
Thanx

Huff,
Thanks for giving me a nudge towards the AutoXcam over the Vuz setup. With the two brackets the system is very easy to setup and tweak. Where as installing the Vuz would have been a major endeavor.
I've only had time to briefly test the system out and for the price I have to say that I'm impressed. The mounts are stable under most conditions (frost heaves and pot holes being the exception) and I really like the pump action suction mount. It even has an indicator to let you know that it is low on suction!
The camera is pretty nice too. It has a nice wide field of view that is great for getting most of the dash in the shot to make it look like you're in the car but with it being that wide it does have some vignetting (light fall off) near the edges. The camera is also sensitive enough to use at night.
Anyways that's enough of my rambling. Now I just need to find the time to really put it through its paces.

Roy:
You better bring that bad boy on the run on 2/29. Should be able to get some good shots of the group running through the paces
Think I might get one for our Spring and Fall run. Being the guy in the rear of the pack, I should be able to get some great shots of the group. Huff, how much for a Vividbucks member?

Huff,
I just finished my first feature film!
I filmed our last club meet and got some great shots of us driving up the coast. The autoXcam was used for almost all of the shots and it worked out really well. I think you'll get a kick out of it when you see it. If I had a way of hosting the file I'd put it up so that everyone could check it out but at 97MB that's not going to happen.
So in the mean time you'll have to keep an eye on your mailbox. As you should receive a CD from me in the next couple of days. :D

New England RX-8 Club coastal drive video
my10ae was nice enough to put the video up on his website. The video features multiple camera angles, great sounds from a Borla exhaust, and a dozen RX-8s! So check it out when you get a chance.
WARNING! The file is almost 100MB.

Roy,
Just got the disk in the mail today. Very nice! Dan and I were impressed with some of the transitions and editing. We made a call to our producer friends in Hollywood and told them of your directoral debut. LOL. BTW nice bannar in you sig.
With a camera system like that it's easy for folks like us to live out our dream of being a big time movie director and do it on a dirt cheap budjet.

Sweet! I guess it is time to quit my day job and move to Hollywood. :p
So when are we going to see some more videos of the Huffmobile? I can't wait to see you blasting around one of the local tracks.

soon Roy, very soon. I missed the last two events due to other things that I had to do though I do have the itch real bad and I need to get back out there. I'm looking into some racing seats and harnesses now as the stock seats have just about reached the end of thier effectivness.

Nice kit, might think about it.
Note: Link worked after I took the last slash out.
