New Project U brake pads RX8

Project U now has replacement brake pads for the RX8. Two versions are offered, regular and high performance version.

Project Mu Front Brake Pad NS RX-8
$84.99

Project Mu Rear Brake Pad NS RX-8 REAR
$74.99

High performance carbon metal brake pad. Street Brake Pad with Superior Initial Stopping Power - Developed specifically for the street, NS outperforms any stock brake pads. Reliable in any weather or road conditions, NS gives outstanding initial stopping power which is a prime importance on the street. In addition to reducing brake dust and squeal, NS helps keep rotor wear to a minimum. Applicable Rotor Temp: (F&R) 0 to 400 deg. Celsius

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Project Mu Front Brake Pad TITAN KAI RX-8 FRONT
$189.99

Project Mu Rear Brake Pad TITAN KAI RX-8 REAR
$179.99

New Hyper-Carbon Brake Pad with Titanium Fluoride - By fusing together titanium fluoride with standard carbon, a highly advance brake compound has been achieved. The result is a superior brake pad which provides greater control and stopping power for today's heavier, high output tuner cars. Applicable Rotor Temp: (F&R) 0 to 800 deg. Celsius

**NS pads are same as Bestop on graph**

Currently I am testing a set of these out on our Project car since I roasted the stock ones from road racing. I'm using the NS version on the street now and planning to try a set of the Titain Kia on the track. So far I've noticed no squealing and way less brake dust. After having them on for a week and proper bedding of the pads I had to stand on them a few days ago to avoid a little old lady and they felt very firm.

Huff, please let us know if these ever go on sale. I'm planning on proactively picking up a set when they do.

Do you need to have rotors cut when you replace brake pads? Can you cut the rotors on the 8?

Omicron, you gotta know by now that I'd give you a better deal. I don't see these going on sale anytime soon but give me a call anyway. I always take care of the forum members when I talk to them personally.

As in, turning the rotors? If so, far as I know, you don't need to turn your rotors unless you've damaged them because you let your brake pads get too low.

Omicron is right. You won't need to turn the rotors just for new pads. Unless of course, the rotors get damaged or are warped from abuse. If I haven't warped mine in the time I've had them on the track then I think you'll be OK.

can you turn the Mazda rotors or do you have to buy new ones if they are warped?

The stock rotors should be turnable. I can't see why they wouldn't be able to be.

I thought turning the rotors in a vehicle intended for "spirited driving" or occasional racing is a no-no. The removal of rotor material greatly effects the rotors ultimate limit (or ability to absorb heat).

I had a Mazda 323 way back when and I turned the rotors when they warped only to have them warp again in a couple of months. I don't think I was especially abusive to the rotors either.

This is true to a point. Considering the size and thickness of the stock rotors of the 8, turning shouldn't be an issue. However, if the car has relitively thin rotors then turning will only last a while as in the case with your 323. If your on the track and the rotors become warped due to exessive heat then turning may only be a temporary solution. Also, turning the rotors usually isn't an issue when normal street driving with street pads.
