I hate those damn ads!
Browsing this site has greatly pissed me off using safari.
Team. There's a few free apps. Dolphin browser and Mercury. Which are way better browsers, might be able to use those instead.

I rarely visit this site any more and I was on four or five times a day, mostly just reading. But between all the inline ads making navigation impossible on my iPhone and iPad and the ads overlaying all pics if I happen to be on the rare desk/laptop pc, it's just not worth the aggravation.
Believe me, I understand that as a forum user I AM the product and IB needs to monetize me. That being said, if the forum becomes so annoying to use that visitors stop coming, there's no longer a product to monetize.
I understand that ultimately no one at IB cares what I think and I accept that. I'll either visit the forum or I won't. But I will add a final thought, the methods of inserting these ads are so incredibly aggravating whether I visit or not I can assure I will NEVER patronize those advertisers.
Ever.

Chuck Hoover is the head of marketing, but provides no contact information on IB's site or management page:

Might be possible to reach him by calling their 800 number or using a little google-fu.

You're welcome.
The irony is I have AdBlock Plus disabled on rx8club because I think it's a service worth paying for.
(And make no mistake, the advertisers are the ones providing the money, but we are the product that's being sold!)
I still don't see the VW pop-overs because I run the NoScript Firefox extension that blocks the javascript shenanigans.

funny, they went away for a few days so I thought somebody at IB finally got off their *** and did something, but then yesterday they came back. Now I'm getting a Verizon LTE 4G ad. They probably were willing to pay more just to aggravate the f-ck out of iPwn users ...

Found a solution for the Viglink that attempts to monetize links we post.
If you don't already have GreaseMonkey installed, get it:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/
Then install this script. It defangs Viglink and makes links just links again:
https://userscripts.org/scripts/show/143649
You will have to set the script preferences to add "https://www.rx8club.com/*" to the included pages list.

Team - it's not phone model specific.
I get the same turned corner ads on the latest os with an iPhone 4 and a 5, as well as an iPad 3. It happen in both the full site and the the **** mobile one. The wee constant VW ads, now they've changed it up a bit. Luckily I don't have much reason to visit here anymore, especially from mobile.

Normally I browse this site on mobile without an ad blocker because seeing an unobtrusive ad now and then is worth what I learn form here. It's a win win - the board makes the ad money and I just ignore it. But a WHOLE PAGE AD OVERLAY on my tablet is far too obtrusive.
If this isn't fixed I'll be blocking ad traffic at the router level. Too bad because I didn't mind supporting the board in this way before...

Geeez
AGREE ARK and others. I thought I read (maybe in my mind) that pop ups aren't supposed to happen to logged-in registered users. Know that's true on other forums/sites. I think I get more pop ups when I login versus not.
ALSO, why do you have to use Google to search when don't want to use the useless board search?
From the google search box, I have to enter "site:rx8club.com (enter search text)"? IT'S WEIRD - if I clear my history, cookies, and data, I can go directly to a Google search from the top of the page Search box, but if I'm on the forum a few times, it reverts to the useless board search. What's up with that?

Wow, I must be in my own universe... I get no ads on desktop. I get no ads on full site version on my phone. I only get the big pop Verizon Wireless ad on my phone on the mobile site. I don't understand why everyone is grumpy over this. I would rather have this happen than pay to use this service. Same with youtube.

maybe because every time it loads a couple pages in the tablet or phone the ad pops up occupying 90% of the freaking screen. maybe you enjoy it, however on the many forums I am on, the ads are at the minimum for members and are only as annoying if you are not logged in. At least on YouTube, it doesn't occupy the whole screen, nor does it open other pages when you try to close the ad because the X is the smallest part to hit, you end up accidentally clicking the ad every god damn time!
Secondly I often use the full site even on my phone, so I hardly get the mobile ads.
Also, have you not seen the ads on YouTube that they play before a video? Sometimes they're 15 seconds long and you can't skip them, sometimes they're two minutes and you can skip after a certain amount of time.
Lastly, I've never accidentally opened the ad. The "X" is large enough to hit on my iPhone, and that's not a very large screen.

Stop or limit the ads. Non-intrusive advertising is allowed by default:
Stop the pop-up ads. This works on mobile Firefox too, I think:
Stop Viglink from tracking every link you click on:
