Sorry, it's not going to happen. Most of us agree that the 10 post restriction causes more problems on RX-7 club than it solves.
And before this morphs into a request for some sort of restriction on new members to accomplish the same thin, IB has already stated to the staff that they will not support such a restriction.

where does this come from? that is really not what ib wrote at all. ib said they don't want restrictions that would make it difficult for people to join. thats all.
we, the folks who have been here the longest, dont want an x post before thread limit because it just promotes posting for the sake of getting to make your thread. we decided that long before ib was here.

Fair enough. The new threads don't really bother me. If it's something that has been covered a million times, I just don't open it. I don't have any experience being a moderator, so I haven't seen behind the scenes stuff. Didn't know it was a problem.
Just was a thought that crossed my mind!

Well, this change certainly got me active.
Been a lurker for quite some time now until recently.
I guess it works quite nicely forcing people to search before being able to make a thread.
Just a small hindrance when you're a newbie and trying to figure it all out.
I adapted though.

It is possible it's related to the mobile version? I'm asking because it seems like every post you make is from your android. Have you tried a full version of the site on a desktop computer?
Have you PMed Zoom44 to discuss it? You need an admin's assistance here

hrmm, not sure if it is some interference between the new member restriction and the app, or if it is just the app itself. I will investigate, but in the meantime, like RIWWP suggested, it would be interesting to see if the user can create a thread through the actual website instead of the mobile app.
And just to clarify, there isn't anything special that the app does differently when it comes to creating threads, it actually just leverages off of the website's 'new thread' mechanism, so I wouldn't think it would be an app issue, but I will for sure take a look.

I have well more than twice the number of posts indicated by my post count.
As a New Member, you are allowed to post in existing threads in the other forums. You just aren't allowed to start a new thread.
Send a PM to one of the administrators (Zoom44 or Elara) with your concerns. Moderators don't have access for making changes to members profiles.

I think that if you have a join date longer than 30 days its silly to require 10 posts to make a thread. The 30 day thing should stop spambots and if someone is too lazy to search before asking a dumb question they are probably also too lazy to wait 30 days.
So the 30 day thing should be enough!

The time limit doesn't stop spam-bots, they can easily just create masses of bots and wait for the time to expire.
And yes, if someone is too lazy to search, we want to make sure they only create threads in the new member subforum. Not lift it anyway just because they are lazy.
Both limits will remain, it's not actually a problem for most new members, the ones that have a problem with it seem to get booted out relatively quickly because they break all sorts of other rules too.
I've watched your posts all over the place trying to get your post count up, thanks for keeping on topic within each thread and making them posts of substance. It keeps me from deeming them "spam".

NP - if I wasn't needing to reach 10 to make my first post they would be more substantive still.
This forum was invaluable for me as a lurker when I had a coil go bad and researched the proper fix. Dealer wanted to do nearly 2k of work and I just needed new coils! +1 for rx8 club and +1 for mazdamart.
