04 RX8 Compression Issues
Hey all. I've got an 04 RX8 wiht 100k miles that I bought used in 2005. Due to life, it sat on the east coast from about 2009 until just last week when I had it shipped out to the Sacramento area! Overall it seems to run OK. It has some issues with the Evap system that need fixing to get it through inspection.
However, I took it into a dealership and asked them to test the compression as it does have a hot start issue where it takes quite a bit of cranking to get it going again. They said the front rotor is reading "6.2 4.6 and 5.9" and that I would need a new engine and various other parts to the tune of about $12000. Yikes!
Anyway, I wanted to ask here for those in the Bay Area what my options are for shops that might be able to do a rebuild or take a look at the engine for substantially less. I only plan to drive the car occasionally as a back up and for fun on the weekends so if it has some minor compression issues maybe its not the end of the world.
Thanks for any help and advice!

How long has it been running since you got it back? Sometimes when they sit a long time apex seals can get stuck. From what I can recall Mazda usually charges 8500 with all the labor for a reman
