Thanks to everyone who made it out to support AZMC at the Peoria Fire It Up show. Good time was had by all. "Camp Mazda" was pretty hard to miss.
AZMC was awarded the "Club Participation" Trophy!

Unfortunate the "judges" don't seem to appreciate the beauty of the Mazda. Ah well.

Nice to see the "classics" won most of the awards.
Next year we will have at least one winner, if we let them know how many will be coming, they will have a special award for the "Best Mazda".
Great to see you again 09! Your 8 is awesome!

New RX8 Owner

Hello Everyone, I was directed from "Easy E1" to stop by this forum and introduce myself. I also belong to the Arizona Mazda Club so some of you on here know me as "Boomer" Well I just purchased an 2004 VR RX8! Im a previous owner of a P5 http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2505064 so im not new to owning a mazda. I had a hard time parting with my ole faithful P5, I bought her new and that car was the best damn car i ever owned. If you click the link above you will see a list of mods that I completed on the car. It was in mint condition when i traded it in Tuesday. Anyways long story short, I want to introduce myself.

Hey Boomer01 ,,glad ya made it. Most anything you want to know about your RX-8 is on this forum. Just try the "SEARCH BUTTON" to find all kinds of information, before you post any,, what you might not think are simple questions. The locals are kinda rough here when you ask a question that has been asked about a thousand times.
Search, Browse, Enjoy.

What's new to me, besides such a monumental life decision, is this excited yet scared-to-death feeling I have about it all. I don't mind meeting people from the forum as they have all been the nicest people on Earth. It's the weight of the decision that I am feeling. I know I'll be in good shape no matter where I end up, it's just a huge change, that's all.
Charles,

Rest assured that we'll provide as much advice and assistance as we can. I moved here from Minnesota in 1987 and have never looked back. Personally, I find that people here are (for the most part) very friendly. Probably has a lot to do with the large number of Midwestern transplants over the years. I don't mind the summers, but my wife dreads the heat. It's just a personal thing that you need to address individually. I had a much harder time with Winters in MN. The thing I absolutely love is the variety of terrain in the state and proximity to "seasons." In the dead of Winter, you could golf on Monday, drive 3 hours the next morning and be skiing in the White Mountains or up near Flagstaff, or you could head West 5 hours and be on the beach in California. If Vegas is to your liking, you can drive there too in 4 to 5 hours depending on speed . It's the perfect location (in my book). No tornados (just dust storms), hurricanes, or earthquakes (albiet, an occasional light pool slosher ). Moving and a life change such as the one you're facing is DEFINITELY stressful, especially when you don't know a lot of people. We can HELP!!

Keep us posted on your progress.

We look forward to meeting you and Michelle. Charles and if you have any questions on anything or need anything don't hesitate to ask.
I also am a transplant. I moved here (Lake Havasu City, AZ) in 1997 from the Great Northwest. Then moved to Phoenix in 2003. It is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Just gotta love the weather, and the wide open spaces.
We look forward to your arrival.

MR. ABRAMS (sorry Jeff) had better put something together so we can all meet up with you and welcome you to AZ.
I'm a transplant also from Colorado. Been here 15 yrs.

Let me be the first to say, OF COURSE you may be an honorary AZ member! High maintenance isn't a problem around here.
Sorry, it was an emotional couple of hours for you this evening with your daughter. I think once she comes for a visit with you she will like it. There is tons to do here, and concerts ALL the time. Unfortunately, all my children are not in her age bracket, or I would volunteer them to show her around.

The emoticon ( ) is rolling on the floor laughing. After meeting Mr. Abrams, you will understand. : He's quite a, shall we say, colorful gentleman and chock full of energy, and we all love and respect him. RCCAZ1 is another great one we all love and respect. Heck we love and respect all our 8 owners. Really a great bunch of people.

It's funny you are moving here from MI, my son and his fiance' will be making the move TO MI later in the year. (Perhaps they'll wait until warmer months.)

Thanks, the engine bay pics never updated on cardomain for some reason. but my proti was a pretty car. the pics dont do it justice. the sales mgr and sales man couldnt beleive i was trading it in, they were amazed how good of condition it was. oh well it was time for change and man im liking this change. its finally sinking in that i dont have my proti anymore. this rx8 is freakin fun to drive!!!! but that gas mileage is sucking! I detailed my car today and im so happy i went with the VR, that red is simply an amazing color.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! Charles Hill, you will find a good group out here in az. I moved here from dallas,tx 1yr ago and the guys/gals with AZMC have been great! they are all very helpful and made me feel very welcome. you sound like you have a lot on your plate, and i hope everything works out for you and your decision relocating etc.

btw, why do i need to pm poolsidenaz? did i miss something, if i did i apologize. I tried doing a search before i introduced myself to be sure i found the right place to post. so easy e1 i do try to utilize the search function because i know some folks dont have anything better to do other then rag on someone who posted something that was already posted. but sometimes theres just way too many threads to read through to find where to post. I will try and not duplicate something thats been posted LOL!

I think dysfunctional families are the norm these days. We all have some dysfunction... an over used word these days.
As for the music, there are so very many venues here you will be hard pressed to NOT find something to your liking.
And Jeffy... No need to be cautious. You can trust him explicitly.
We are all very excited that you have chosen AZ and there is more than enough room for two "colorful" persons! Looking forward to your arrival!

Pools has a list of all the 8 owners/members and personal information you may not want posted here. She'll put you on the distribution list for functions/happenings on this forum.
btw the VR is STUNNING!!
