3/6/04 HIN... after the show thoughts
Okay, this was my first HIN so I can't compare them to others...
I will say there were tons of cars. Probably too many IMO. A nice mix, though, of exotics to Civics.
I thought there was WAY too many people. I got there at 4:30 p.m. to buy a ticket and it was a freakin zoo at that point. I waited in line to enter to about 5:45 p.m. (doors "opened" at 5:00 p.m.) I know other people waited longer to enter. I kinda lucked out, I was walking by a line that just had been "split" and security asked me if I was there for the show. I said yes and he said for me to "stand in this line." Yeah, I kinda jumped the line but it was by total luck. I also guess it didn't hurt to be wearing a Mazdaspeed button down shirt either though.
I have a friend who was showing his Mini Cooper so I hung out there for a bit and then checked everything out.
Some pretty cool things - a ton of cash spent on some of the cars. I would have thought more vendors would have been there, but that is just probably me. I was looking to buy some things. Hell, Mazda "sponsored" the event, why not have a Mazdaspeed booth selling stuff, even if it was hats, shirts, etc.?! I was REALLY surprised by that. Then again, I probably shouldn't: look at the crappy marketing plan Mazda put forth for the 8.
Yes, there were some smokin' women (models) at the event. Maybe I'm getting older but I felt kinda sorry for them - every guy walking by touching them to take pictures. I can't imagine what kind of mood they are in at the end of the show - 7 hours of that?
I rolled out of there around 7:45 p.m. I had enough by that point. The crowd was getting worse inside. And I started to realize how narrow the walkways were between the cars - you couldn't get around all the people taking pictures of the cars, models, etc.
When I left, the line to enter was still about 500 yards; yes, it was THAT long. I'm guessing about 1/2 hour to an hour just to enter.
For those who attended, what are your thoughts of the show?
BTW, I posted this in another thread but mikeb I saw your car in the parking lot. Nice job! Just throw about 400 stickers on your car and you should have entered. It would have been the only red 8. I thought your car looked as good, if not better, than some of the other cars at the show.

I love the HIN shows
but they have gone from 8 to 10 to 15 to 25 dollars to get in
I also waited about two hours to get in
The show has changed alot in the last years
the cars have gone from civic, intergra, prelude , accord
to mercedes,bmw,audi,lexus and so on

the only good part of the show was how i got in for free...i walked up those steps to the left side and kinda just waited for some other friends inside who had their cars there give me their wristbands...but somehow 2 doors were swung open and a ton of people just exited...i just stood on the other side of the line and walked in nice and calm...i should have stayed outside cause the show was a total waste of time...it was the most irritating car event i had been to in a long time...too many people..wanted to take some pics of cars but too many f---ing people not to mention many ugly wannabe models...there just normal looking girls that wear low rise jeans and raise up their thongs (not to mention no ***)...about 85% of the models there should not be models...sorry if i sound so sour but i come from the old school... HIN= 2 thumbs down.. (except for getting in for free)..

The "model" were um lack of a better word ---not

My only thing about the event was that is seemed so dark in certain locations. I couldn't see what the cars really looked like. Maybe it's just me and my lasik eyes...
