FML! The day when all the other RX-8's are going, the car is not ready.. Tires are pretty much done, and I doubt I could even get a session in with them.
For you guys who just posted, what times are you running?

For Tuesday nights, anything sub 49.9 is considered decent.. I managed a best of 49.6 with a stock 8 a few weeks back.
Wish I could head out tonight! I still have the numbers on the windows from weeks ago tooo! LOL! I don't think they will come off now.

I live in OC, no way I am going to fight the PM traffic to hit a night event there.

anywho, had fun tonight, sure wish I woulda had company this time. it was strange being there and not knowing anyone, usually Jesse (the guy in the red Evo) is there, or osmeone else I know.... all well.
I'll be back out in a couple weeks.
oh and I almost always run the 6-7 slot.
I took some pictures of Fris (an RX-7 guy) that ran the 7-8 slot, and I also took picture of a Silver RX-8 in the same slot... I'll post em up soon.
:-)

yeah figures.... :-)
Yeah they some big meats!
I'm having a couple problems.
1) the tires dont have enough time to fully come up on temps. they are designed to run in the 180 range. yesterday morning when I ran with ULLOSE in the morning I ran 7-8 laps in a row and temps were only at 130 on the rights and 150 on the lefts. last night after 3 laps they were hangin out in the 130 - 140 range. its not much of an excuse since its still more grip then pretty much any car out there, but just sayin that they are not running at the temps they were designed for.
2) in a couple of the turns (mostly the tight left after the pits, and a little in the tight right), the car is doing this weird engine rev but no go thing. ULLOSE suspects the inside rear tire is coming off the ground. I think he is right. its really making the car hard to drive in these sections.
I really think I can run a 50.9 on that track we ran last night. (put someone like ULLOSE in the car and I would not be surprised to see a 48.9 in it)
none the less, I think a 51.7 is a decent time for someone that’s in a 130 h.p. car on a track with 4 horse power friendly straight-a-ways…. Now if only I could double my h.p. to match those Evo guys….. muah ha ha ha ha. ;-)
EDIT:
oh yeah, one last thing. My dad was timing me along with the track guys. the only difference is his start and stop spot was in a different location. his times were matching what the anouncer said. except the last run. when he clocked me it was a 51.4 after my dad clocked me I messed up (right after the tight right, and before the start finish). the track clocked me at a 51.9.... I lost a half a second on that mess up. :-( other wise it would have been closer to a 51.4.... bummer.

Working on some video right now. Due to the angle of the shot you can not see the tire come off the ground, but you see a noticeable increase in wheel speed (the Hoosier logo is a blur) when the engine revs mid turn.

speeddemon: My tires are finished, 30K service is coming up soon, and I guess i should save up my money on parts instead of spending it on futile attempts to be as fast as evo's on the track LOL
