speeddemon: tires are pretty much finished, 30K service coming up. I guess i should save up my money for parts, instead of making futile attempts to go as fast as evo's on the track LOL

Work on the driver and you should be able to beat any of the guys showing up there.

First clip is up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4K-Cl2eF-0

Our course layout: we leave the pits and take the first right turn in 2nd gear, timing starts and ends at the first slalom cone. Timing was done on board with an RLC track commander data system. Only ran one lap at a time for our testing.

It's a 2004 GT with 110,5xx on the original motor, running stock size Z1 Star Spec's, on stock wheels, with 35 psi front, 39 psi rear (drifting pressures). The rear tires have been heat cycled a million times and have no grip. LOL, they've actually turned blue.

Haven't been to Adams in a few weeks though and I doubt I could even do another session with the tires as they are now.

Here is a picture I made of the layout I have been on.

Fastest time is like 44 seconds by Jesse in the Evo.

Oh okay, yeah I haven't had the chance to run that layout with the hairpin, I can imagine that adds a few seconds to the run.. I love drifting the front double apex corner though, it's so fun and people always cheer. LOL, I'm a attention *****.

Just got back, we were there 8-10am today. I will try to post today's video in the next day or so - got some awesome shots using the 5mp GoPro wide camera.

If any of you guys are looking for tires to run out there we have a number of tires left over from our test that we will sell cheap (got to cover the cost of our track rental and gas). All are 265-35-18s, which will fot a stock 8" wheel. All of the tires were shaved to start with, and have around 20 laps in them, but still have lots of life.

Next event is El Toro this weekend with SCCA on Sat, and PCA on Sun.

I will not be back this tuesday. Hopefully the tuesday after.

I know Jesse (my friend in the red evo) will not be there next tuesday either. he is also hoping for the tuesday after.

ULLOSE, I'm thinkin about just runnin XP (or even just X runs) and just running the slicks.... he he... well see.
(the 225s on the diamonds are fried. when I mount the 255s on the panasports I will no longer have wheels to mount the slicks on for adams.)

Dude, you need some shorter tires so you can get that car down, and hopefully keep the back tire on the ground.

or jsut cut the fender up a little more.

these tires are free. and an (almost) unlimited suply of them. cutting the fenders would allow me to keep running them, and bring the car back down to where it belongs.

I jacked the car up the other day and I noticed the rear tires really didnt drop at all. I hadnt thought about it untill you mentioned there is no droop. BINGO, your right. there isnt. the car IS stitting a lot taller then it used to.

how come the LSD sends the power to the wheel with no traction? I thought the pouint of the LSD was to sendthe power to both wheels evenly? or more so the one WITH the traction.?????

anywho, I dont knwo what I will do, but I'll have to do something.

i just read speeddemon's 'location' description

makes me want to change mine to: "In the OC, near disneyland - but in the good part, not near Jorge, Michael, Louie or John"

It is trying to send power to both, just so happens one is hardly touching the pavement... Wheel spin.

Only a locked diff would be equal, the LSD still "slips".

Cut them and drop the car an inch, bet it would make a huge difference.

FYI, any Prep car, DP or XP for the Miata, has to have a roll bar at an SCCA event.

he he he, yeah Loren kept talking about how he lived in Fontana, but the good part. so it turned into an inside joke. :-)

I think I might just cut those fenders and lower the car again.... sweet. should help lap times to.

no problem, I can alweays just run time only runs. :-) its not like I would be compedative in an prep class anyways.
we will see. I'm not saying I'm going to do it, I'm just sayin Its an option. I just dont knwo what I am going to do once we mount the 255's on the panasports. (meaning I wont have whels for these wide tires... and I sure dont want to run $900 A6's at adams.)

oh wait... I think I just found the problem. those tires would take me out of CSP and move me into a prep class... even if I run time only they will stil class the car as a preped miata. meanng I would STILL have to have the roll bar..... right?

well int hat case, I'll either get a cheap removable roll bar, or another set of wide wheels for cheap. either way, I dont want to spend a lot of money for something that is just for "practice" anyways.

Slicks=rollbar, no matter what is says on the side of your car.

Do it.... Gut it and build a real Prep car.

Latest video from Thursdays testing.

We had one scary moment... Came around on a lap to find a little old lady standing on the edge of the track back in the east corner. I did not see her when I pulled out because she was in the shade of the tree, but as I got closer I spotted her and shut it down. The track management took her in and had to get the sheriff to come pick her up, she was lost and confused.
