advice after getting speeding ticket

I was in Thousand Oaks on the 101 and I got a ticket for going 92 in a 65 lane. It was late and I was tired and just wanted to get home. Luckily I wasn't drinking. Anyways what is everyone's advice? The cop said I'd get a court date letter in the mail.

What are my best options to reduce my fine and my points. Thanks

go tell the judge your sorry and will never do it again and stuff like that, he might reduce it to like 75 in 65 or something like that

yep, i got a 96 in a 65, also in a car pool lane. The ticket was like 600 something bucks, so, 600 minus the 271 for the car pool violation, with court fees and crap, probably like 450-500 for the speeding ticket alone. Atleast you werent doing over 100mph, for that they take your license for a month, learned that the hard way

What was the violation code for the ticket?

Traffic school - if they let you - will end up costing more money. It'll save you a point on your record though.

Yeah my fault i know for sure. Will definitely learn from this experience. It's my 1st ticket in over 10 years of driving. I guess it's cheaper to dress nice, show up in court and ask the judge to reduce the sentence than hire a lawyer? About how much will my insurance premium go up from 1 point? If traffic school is expensive is it still worth it to reduce my points and save on insurance? Violation code 22349(a) VC

I believe that anything over 90mph is a 2 point violation.

Don't think so. I got one going 90 in a 65 and it was only one point. Good thing for traffic school!!!

I think its over triple digits or double the speed limit is it 2 or more.

I got a 90 in a 65 and in the carpool lane but the cop didnt get me for that, just speeding. It only cost me 210 without traffic school. I have progressive insurance with full coverage and 3 points and 3 cars and my insurance only went up about 6 bucks a month. Unfortunetly I just got my fourth ticket and luckily I can still go to traffic school for it. Does anybody know how many points you can have on your record befor your license is suspended?

but does anyone know if i can still request a trial-by-declaration if i've already appeared and pleaded not guilty and set a date on this 25th?

the points to lisence taken away ratio is obscure. I have known people with like 10 points and never got it revoked.

I THINK its supposed to be like 5-6 points but dont quote me on that one.

Good luck... I just got a failure to stop ticket about a week ago so hopefully I can do school to take it off

I said over 90. You got one for 90. There is a difference between the two.

In California:

Four points within a 12-month period
Six points in a 24-month period
Eight points in a 36-month period

Different states have different points systems. For example, in the tristate area they use a 12 point system, but of course tickets cost more costs than the ones in California. It penalizes more "minor" offenses like running a stop sign less than the "major" offenses like speeding. California has a conversion system for those tickets that basically converts every ticket except reckless driving or DUI to 1 point tickets.
