Any good dealerships in the LA area?

Just wondering where you guys got yours and where I might find a good deal on the one Im planning on getting soon;
I was going to get it through Carsdirect.com and got an out the door quote of $34,055.23 but i was told in another thread that i can get a better deal at a dealership, maybe even below invoice in the LA area.

Any of you guys gotten the car for invoice or below at a dealership?

Got my titanium 6M with touring package from Cerritos auto square, they were pretty nice.
try to call their internet fleet manager first, you should get a $500 price break from the start ( at least that is what I got when I bought mine in october). Then it is up to you to negotiate the final price.
I also got a free car cover ( black/gray ) after a couple of hour of negotiations. I ended up getting mine for about 1K under MSRP.

Ouch, Cerritos Auto Square... I live in Cerritos, and I would NEVER shop for a car at Cerritos Auto Square. They always jackup their prices, and their service dept. are terrible. This is speaking of Browning Mazda. I went there 3 times, and each time, their salesman was pushy, told me invoice price I had was wrong from Edmunds...and the Internet fleet manager there told me they could only work with 1000 under MSRP. They kept insisting on getting my credit info first, and when he asked for it, I knew there would be problems.

The other car locations I had great experiences with was Galpin Mazda, where I eventually bought my car because they had the best matching price, and the car I wanted... Ask for Philip the Internet Sales. Or try Claremont Mazda, which was very helpful as well. The only reason I didn't go to Claremont was because they didn't have the one I wanted on that day.

By far, Galpin treated me with respect, courtesy, and I felt like I made a great buy. Cerritos on the otherhand always felt dirty, as if they are deliberately trying to rip me a new butthole, and wouldn't haggle with the price. Like I said, this was 3 seperate salesman, and 1 Internet sales. Oh, they also lied to me that there are no Automatic that I wanted with the GT Silver package I wanted on that date.. for at least another month. This was back in November. Kept trying to push me to buy this Black GT that I didn't want, and said it was for sale 4k under MSRP.. had 500 or so miles on it already. Demo model. When he said.. "This is your only chance at this deal for today ONLY." I told him no thanks and left.

I purchased mine at the Cerritos Auto Square for $800 above Invoice from Chuck the sales manager. Call him directly and I'm sure he will give you the same (or better) deal. I live in the San Fernando Valley and first went to Galpin but they didn't have what I wanted in stock. I looked on the Mazda website and checked stock and Browning (Cerritos) had what I wanted in stock. I called an negotiated the price over the phone with Chuck and went there and picked it up. Simple as could be. I'll take it to Galpin for service since they are closer.

yikes..sounds like you had a bad experience there. but like other people on this forum, I got mine at Browning as well! haha.. but I came in with S-plan though. so I knew the invoice price and they couldn't say anything. Even though I was pretty much at invoice, I did manage to get them to knock of 250 off the S-plan price and then got the 500 college discount. After calling about 10 different dealers, I had 2 hits. One was Browning, they had a silver GT which was almost what I wanted adn the other was Galpin where the fleet manager located a car for dealer trade that he was willing to get. So, I went in knowing and telling Browning that the car they were offering was not exactly what I wanted. It was in the GT package when I wanted to save money and just go with the Touring. I explicitly told them I wouldn't use all the GT options and to me it wasn't worth more than a couple hundred bucks. haha you should have seen the guys face. But really, I think what really scared them was that I called Galpin back while I was waiting around to set up an appointment for that dealer trade.

Be just as aggressive as they are. Browning loves to make people wait. I used that to my advantage and started to make them move at the pace I wanted them to.

Hope this helps. good luck!

Mary,

Please post your pic in the "post your self pics" thread in the Lounge.

If you are hot, then I will help you with the dealership. If you are not, then Kaliken will help.

So are you saying you're hot?

Ok, here's my deal. If you are hot and you can prove it with a pic, I'm going to do the following for you:

(1) I will provide you secrets in brain and behavior that will allow you to devise strategies so you can reach your potential in various social contexts.

(2) Kaliken will build you a fricking robot.

(3) Speed-ER doc will drive over from Houston and give you free medical advice as well as rides in his illustrious Pu**y Wagon (as seen in the movie Kill Bill).

(4) Noahprtlnd will model the aftermarket RX8 speedo for you (sick) and create some new jokes especially for you.

You want me to stick to your end? Are you sure about that?

I actually don't know how to post pics in here. It can't be that hard. It's probably just a function inside doing a regular post like you've been doing. Ask someone else or just try it.

Hurry up, because Speed-ER doc is getting antsy. He just may be the horniest doc this side of the Mississippi River. Did you know he's into Britney "the Hammerhead Shark" Spears?

Ok, I think I just figured out how to post a pic. Do like you normally would to post a message. Then go down to "Attach file." Looks pretty simple.

Well his deal is alright.. how about my deal... if you are super hot, materialistic, and will date a 4'9" guy, then I'll pay 10k down on your car.

Oh btw, I'm not 4'9".. I just know this homeless guy down the street that is, and he looks pretty lonely during the holiday. My charity of the week ya know?

Oh, and don't invite Mikeb. He'll say this and that but in the end, he won't show up. And apparently, he doesn't say much.

Personally I don't like sloppy seconds... ewwww...

Jokingly aside, use Internet Fleet managers against each other for the best deals. It works great, and when you come prepared, the dealers don't give you as much BS. Only a little bit of BS.

Try Galpin for a start, then go to Cerritos, then Claremont, then Irvine... and see what they quote you. Cerritos I bet will be the highest... next to Irvines. :P

MARYDOLL,

I went on-line, just like DrComputer did, and found what I was looking for at Anaheim Mazda, 30 miles from home!!

Talked to the a sales manager Cory, arranged the deal for $800 over invoice. At this point I hadn't even driven one!! So I showed up and Fidel, awesome guy drives a nice Miata, took me on the best test drive...rough roads, aggressive driving, etc.

Don't waste too much time trying to save a couple hundred bucks because the grin factor is worth at least that!! I love this car!!!

Cool tip twig. I never thought of Anaheim Mazda. I just called Galpin Mazda and am waiting for a call back from some guy named Marckus. Let's see what he says.

We've bought many cars from Galpin when we lived in So Cal.

If you get a good salesperson you can get the lowest price possible on vehicles they have on the lot. The only negative about Galpin is it takes them forever to get price approval and to get the paper work ready for you to sign.

Try to firm up the full details (i.e. the bottom line, out the door $) over the phone or face to face with the salesperson. Don't buy their extended warranty - many after market warranties cover more things and are less expensive.

If you have a credit card that gives you rebates or air miles, try to put some or all of the down payment on your card. It counts as a purchase (not a cash advance) and you can pay it off with the money you would have put toward the down payment.

Finally, if you are going to finance your vehicle, make sure you get a "simple interest" loan and NOT a "rule of 78" loan. In Calif (and some other states) there is a check box on the back of the dealer's loan form that indicates the type of loan.

Good luck.

Sometimes saving thousands of dollars can be complicated.

If one wants simplicity, just call the dealer, tell him you'll pay whatever they want, and deliver the car today.

Great advise mngpao:

I never thought of using credit card for the down payment. I might as well put those cards to good use eh. I really appreciate all the help Im getting from this forum. I couldn't do it on my own. I'm still looking for that deal, it's a longer process than I tought. At least it gives me time to save a little more.

Galpin let me put down 5k on credit card, 5k check, 5k cash. Trying to cheat the IRS is a tricky business. Anything over 10k purchase the IRS will flag and look at your records. Money Laundering...blah. Good thing I washed those bills before I turned them in.. untraceable now.

mngpao,

First, if you want to save money, why talk to a salesperson? Why not talk to a fleet/internet sales manager?

Second, why in the hell would you mention simple interest versus rule of 78 without ONE sentence explaining the difference?

Third, so again, why would you unnecessarily complicate things for the poor girl? God knows she's already freaked out by ME.
