Anyone in Socal have a "thing" to check code of check engine light

hi there,

my check engine light suddenly come solid 3 days ago, but i feel like my car is still running really strong (like it always does)

i went to autozone but they no longer rent out the tool to read engine light code
i wonder if anyone in socal has the thing that to read the code, so i can have an idea what is happening.....

btw, i triple checked the oil cap and gas cap, and thewy are both tightened...

I have a cheap module that will pull the code. The CEL codes should be listed somewhere on the website so that isn't really an issue.
