Oh man... You have the exact same configuration I have. I thought I would be unique for longer then that. I mean who would get $2k option and only get the sports package on a strange colored green that photographs poorly? Hmm... Time to get something to differentiate myself. Shopping cart handles? Mugen stickers? Nismo stickers? Spinners?

You'll find me blitzing through Bourquet Canyon, San Fernando Rd, and Little Tujunga Canyon Rd. in the mornings and evennings.

In those new apartments? Nice...

Seems to be more RX-8's then I thought in the area. Too bad there isn't an easy way to acknowledge each other like the Miata with the pop up lights (the Miata wave). I guess maybe a shriek to 9k will have to do?

I don't live in an apartment. I have a house. I met another rx-8 owner named Kingsly once out here. He gave me a rx-8 plate frame. Super nice guy.

I don't really drive it around in town much since it's my commuter car.

It seems that there are more rx-8's now since Galpin opened a dealer up here.

BTW - I am samsonite. After I posted my last post, I was unable to post again. I have to recreate my account. I cleared my cookies and it still did not help.

In Valencia

I think I meet Sup3rBad in front of Office Max on Bouquet Cyn.
He had just lowered the car and parked next to my black - 8.

It's nice to see more 8's, but not too many.

If you know anybody looking for an 8 or anyother car check out the police & fire auto program. (http://www.policeandfireauto.com/)

Lou does all the wheeling and dealing for you so you don't have to.

After looking at what other people paid for their 8's, I almost feel like bad....NOT!

August 6th is a Friday... (work).
August 8th is a Sunday. This will work. If we are going to run quickly in the canyons, it should be done early in the morning. 5am to 7am or so to stay under the ponch and john radar. If it's a leisure tour then it could be done any time but perferably before noon before it gets too hot.

If we are going to do a quick run, we should engineer a route privately through PM.

How Is It Low??

Sup3rdad,
How does the 8 ride with it lowered?
Will Mazda still honor the warranty?

Ages: I'm somewhere between puberty and retirement.

Jsuzki,

I know a route already that I did with another car club. It's a solid, fun drive. I'm good for Sunday morning if that works for everyone. We could meet about 9 at my place and just head up McBean. the rest I will leave for off the board conversation.

I saw a silver rx-8 with a galpin tag in the k-mart parking lot and a blue rx-8 with bling wheels on San Fernando road at a small building tonight about 30 minutes ago. Anyone on the board?

the 8 rides superb. there's no decline in ride quality at all. as far as i know everything else but the suspension is still under warranty. in fact i just had a warranty service done due to a missing screw in the ashtray cover (i don't smoke i jsut don't like missing screws).

I saw a titgrey 8 on McBean between Creekside and Newhall Ranch road this morning. I did not catch the plate. It was not a dealer car.

Anyone here?

Smile Galpin Is Great

My 8 was having A/C problems. A/C fluctuating, not cooling and engine almost stalling when stopped with A/C on.

Galpin ID'd the problem with the A/C as the A/C amplifier. (there is a service bulleting out for this). But they couldn't identify the stalling.

They gave me a free loaner and called me everyday about the status of the car (they had it for three days). The A/C amplifier part is on back order and they gave me the choice of keeping the loaner, or taking my 8 back and they will call me when the part arrives. I took my car back.

It was returned to me washed and clean with 9 more miles on it. Exactly what they told me they put on it trying to ID the stalling problem.

Galpin Mazda - Santa Clartia NEGATIVE

Took car in for air amplifier, 15k service, seat creak.

I said they could have the car for a few days since I was going out of town.

I got a call a few hours later saying it was ready. I went to pick it up and I got the following BS

1. air is within spec - I asked about the SB and he said that there was no SB about the air. I opened the glove box and showed him the print out. No response from him.

2. 15k - "oh. you wanted that done too?"

3. seat creak - we could not duplicate the problem. I sat down and made it creak for him. no response from him.

Meet and ride

My weekends are pretty impacted the past few weeks. I do not think I can participate unless the run ends before 9am...

on a slightly off topic note, got passed by a black RX-8 on Bouquet last friday (july 23, 2004). No wave. No 9k rpm pass. sigh...

This Sunday coming back from West LA on the 405 I counted 7 RX-8's. Basically from weeks of seeing zero 8's to seeing one every 5 minutes or so. Wierd. I was in my wifes little appliance car so I was not expecting any reponse... Also stumbled across a tit RX-8 parked in a cul de sac in the Westridge new development area.

Learned From Samsonite1

They must have learned from you.
I brought the service bulletins along too, but I didn't need to show them.

Who was your service manager?

He was a young guy. I don't remember his name. He was not up to snuff. I ended up calling the service manager about him. Needless to say I am taking my car to another dealer for service.

I had an old guy named "Monte" he said right up front he didn't know much about the car because it was all new. Whatever I told him he listened to, he even wrote down my complaints just how I wanted them. AKA - verbatitum from the service bulletin.

Scubacap,

That's a shame really that the owners know more about the cars then the service managers and writers.

I have never had that problem with my other cars.

The other thing about galpin was that they would not install my borla. They gave me a bunch of crap about voiding my warranty. I took the car to Mazda in TO and they installed it for $100.00 without any lip. In fact, Mazda in TO sells them in the parts department along with the K&N coldair intakes.
