AZ owners???

How many have taken delivery in Arizona?

Where did you purchase, how much did you pay and was the dealership honest etc...

I have been to Earnhardt's and they seemed great, but we never discussed price... I assumed MSRP. I have been told they are looking for significantly more than that, anyone know if that's true??

That's what I hear I would go to Larry Miller or Showcase. With a preference on Larry Miller because the taxes are cheaper in Peoria.

I ordered mine out of South Carolina, so I'm not sure about the specifcs in Phx.

Earnhardt's

Earnhardt's told me $1000 over MSRP last week. Showcase was looking for MSRP. I haven't talked with Larry Miller yet. I spoke with the fleet/Internet sales guy from Bell Mazda yesterday, still waiting for him to call me back.

Nothing special. My family is from there and they have connections with a Mazda dealership in SC. I was able to get a better deal for myself that way.

The feel guy Brian *** was very plesant to me when I called several weeks ago. I would suggest talking to him over at Larry Miller.

Larry Miller

Had a free hour this afternoon so I popped over to Larry Miller. According to the salesman they got in 4 and sold two, but later he admitted there was another one on the lot so I'm not sure how many they really have. Their AZ Republic add on Saturday said they had 6, I believe. They at least have 3 minimum now. A Yellow Sport and two Red GT's (one with Nav and one without.) I believe all are for sale. The one with Nav has black on black leather and the other red GT has black on red.

The salesman, Joe Nichols, was a total loss. Larry Miller Mazda appears to be a Dodge dealer that has a few Mazdas. From the road it was nearly impossible to find until I realized I needed to go to the Dodge showroom. I'm guessing that Joe is brand new or only knows the Dodge lineup. I think he was trying to convince me not to buy the car. Here are some quotes. "I don't know how you could work on that engine under there." "You have to be a rocket scientist to work on one of these." "I don't know why they even bothered putting in a back seat, there's no leg room back there."

I asked a couple of question that I knew the answer to to see if he would blow smoke. Me- "Can you get the car without a sunroof but with leather and power seats?" Joe- "Sure you can, I've got one right over there." (Oh, I thought you told me you only have these two left?) It turns out the one he was refering to was a GT w/o Nav and not a leather without sunroof.

I then asked Joe if he had any information that shows the option packages and what was available in each. He walked around to a couple of desks and then asked someone if they had any RX-8 brocures. Someone else said he gave the last one away this morning. Joe then went to another desk and pulled out a Sales Consutant Guide to the RX8. He didn't know what was in it, but he told me I could have it. (It says right on the back "This guide is for Sales Consutants only") Obviously, Joe didn't read it.

Pricing: The sticker had a Dealer Prep Fee of $995 and Tint charge for $299 added to MSRP. After I balked at the markup, Joe said that he wouldn't charge me the markup. (I'm not sure if this was true or not since I did't purchase the car.) I wasn't too impressed with the tint job either, there were some bubbles in the back window.

I offered Joe every opportunity to give me a test drive, but he didn't bite. He just told me to bring back my wife and kid and maybe we could take it for a spin. Like I want to take it for a spin with a full load.

Conclusion: If you want a car right away, Larry Miller has them, just don't work with Joe Nichols.

By the way, when I left, he gave me a Larry Miller Dodge business card with his name hand written on it. Very professional...

larry miller DODGE....

Wow... that's quite an experience.

I think I may just wait 4-5 months for inventories to grow and this sort of thing to "go away".

Same thing happened when the 350Z came out... sales guys telling me the $1100 desert protection package was non-negotiable... after a couple months, I realized I didn't want the car that badly.

Who knows, same thing may happen with the RX-8. If so, I will keep the S2000 and deal with only having 2 seats!!!

i had a deposit down with earnhardts.....didn't know that i could get a price quote when i put down the deposit....then started reading this forum and once i learned that i shud've been given a price quote...i called the sales mgr and he told me that they wanted $1000 over msrp... the ti 6spd for which i had the deposit down did get here last wednesday...went and looked at it and turned down the car because i did not want to pay more than msrp....when i turned the car down...this sales guy's boss (who reports to the sales mgr) and started giving me BS...and tried to convince me that $1000 over msrp was no big deal for a car like this.....and when i told him that i know people paying below msrp (i had read it in this forum).....he went "you could go to another state or wait for five years for the price to come down"...blah blah....

i have a deposit down with showcase mazda now....they want msrp....but the sad part is, i'll get the car only in late october or early november......my experience with showcase has been good....

btw...i got an email from showcase yesterday....they have a silver 6 spd, gt available....apparently the guy who had pre-ordered it did not qualify for the loan.....

Hey aar_eks_8!!

I missed you at Earnhardt's by about 5 minutes... when I went the Titanium was parked out front w/ sold on it.

They immediately told me that the buyer backed out for "no reason" and became very upset... that's funny. You can never trust dealers!

I was looking at the red one. I drove it down the street (to the Mercedes dealer) and then right back to the lot. I asked about the price... they had a "market value adjustment" on it bumping the price to $36k+. I told them I was looking for a couple hundred OFF MSRP and they had me out the door soooo fast it made my head spin. I figured if they were going to pull something like that, I was obligated to try to offer less than MSRP. Have not heard from them again.

I had a deposit down at Bell Rd. then they told me they were going to mark them up, so I test drove a 02 Suzuka Blue S2000 and I was immediately sold, plus its a ragtop. The two seats are perfect who needs 4 people in a sports car anyway?:D

Hmmm.

Back in March it seemed like the dealer lots were pretty full. Showcase was running ads in the newspaper with come-on prices pretty close to invoice (~$1500 below MSRP). They had a lot of cars. Go to <http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/vlSt...ehicleCode=RX8> and run a search and you'll find 189 of them at Phoenix area dealers, which is even more than in March.

After making a lowball offer on the Earnhardt's website I talked to Andy Moran in fleet sales there and it took us about 15 minutes to cut a deal on the exact car I wanted for $500 over invoice. You might do even better now.

I paid approx $1500 below MSRP at Showcase. It was the last day of the month, at closing time. I don't know if that really mattered or not, but I was at Earnharts earlier in the day-nothing doing. Shocase made me the price on a GT package that Earnharts wouldn't make on a Sport package (AT vs. MT may factor in as well). They also beat Earnharta by $1000 on my trade-in MP5, so all in all I felt good about the deal-which is all you can really ask for.

if u use vickie, please let her know i referred you. oct 31, 2003 was my purchase date.

Picked mine up a couple of weeks ago at Bell Road Automall. Black, manual with Touring. Purchased it through Fleet for a few hundred over invoice without any extra profit crap (security etc...) thrown in. Worked with Michael Coughlin. Easy to work with, no negotiations. Good luck to those looking and avoid Showcase like the plague. Looked their first. Thought I had a deal and found out they had thrown in about an extra $1000 worth of extra stuff that was nothing more than pure profit. Totally different experience at Bell Road.

showcase

heh, funny. I named my price, the extra crap was not included The only thing I did not like was who I was stuck to do the finance. i am assuming u did not deal with vicky. i can get a crappy salesman at any dealership, including showcase. after all, they usually DO work off of commission.

Bought mine at Earnhardt's in Chandler yesterday via the Fleet manager there. Got the exact model I wanted (See sig) and paid Invoice + $100 then got a $2500 cash rebate thrown in as well as 1.9% over 3 years.. (ESM Membership Discounts). End of month I guess but he did seem very 'hungry' indeed.. got great service, great price.. and they did check to make sure it had all the 'fixes' done.. (A/C Flash M etc..) which it had... 30 miles on the clock, 12 of which were me doing the test drive... so more than happy!

Took the car home en the 15 of Feb '04 From Bell Rd Mazda.
Worked through Fleet Serv.
Base Auto w/ SP added, strakes, Auto Armor, Tint was already on it and maks a diffrence.
23 Mi on the ODO. and Plastic still on the seats !
Worked with Al Hlad. Easy to work with but I tortured the guy.
Also did a trade in.
Before this I went to Earnhardt and Biddulph. Too much jerking around.
I have had nothing but good service from Bell Rd.
