Ok. So I've finally got all my parts in for my front speaker/ puddle light install. Now I need a place (thats not my apartment complex driveway) to pull the center console, stereo, and door panels so I can install everything. I know someone here has run speaker wires through the door grommets, but i forget who it was. Do you happen to have any tips on doing this before I try and cut my fingers off with my car door?

Leo, you mentioned something about having access good multimeters and a parking lot at your work. Do you think that you could hook me up the weekend of the 31st?

I could probably do the 31st or at the very least the 1st in the afternoon.

Zach ran the wires through the door grommets, but I can say that having 2 people and small Asian fingers helps.

Ok, so yea... Germany.

I graduate tech school on the 17th of June, and I'm flying out shortly after that. I need to take my car to a port on the East coast, and I'm flying out of BWI. As for all my stuff, the AF will send someone to Matt's house to collect it all for me, and the AF will ship that out as well. My weight limit is 5k not including the car, so I don't have anything to worry about.

Let me know when the car is done, and Zach and David or whoever can drive it out to me with some crap in the trunk(I don't need much) and you can spend some time with me. I'm allowed to go off base after duty hours and all that.

Thank you SO much Matt for getting that paint strip done, it's gonna look badass. <3

I'm gonna get to drive my car on Nurburgring and up and down all the famous roads and tracks in Europe.

So I got some good news though. There are flights from Ramstein to BWI 3x a week, and I can get a hop on one for about $50. So then I just have to buy a ticket from BWI to OAK and back, then another $50 gets me back to Germany. So I should have enough leave saved up by this Xmas and hopefully I can come out to visit you all.

Eleine, the same thing happened to me. My climate control stopped working. Take it in to a dealership. If there aren't any good ones nearby, take it to Putnam Mazda. It's a bit of a drive, but they always took care of me and I never had to pay for anything there.

Anywho, I send my love and I'll hopefully see you all again when the year is over.

So my friend and I are working on a video camera setup that automatically starts recording when you turn on the car.

I was hoping to have a prototype working by tomorrow but we're having some difficulties with the codec and the circuit that will tell the camera to write the end of the file after you turn off the car.

But, Right now I'm kinda looking for a mounting place. It's a small bullet camera, I can run the wires wherever, any ideas?

I volunteer my driveway for your car work Socket... we can have the boys over and bbq.

Dick, no problem man. They're going to get the info from your insurance on repairs then give me an estimate on what the paint stripe, fender tweaks and rear end would be over that estimate. I can PM you here with that info or if you have an email addy PM me witht that.

Leo, what are you trying to film? Upskirt **** or out the front window?

Mount the camera using the rear child seat safety mount. Its on the rear deck. or make a rig that will bolt through the passenger seat rotor symbol.

I was thinking about using the rear deck.

The idea is that we're basically building a black box flight recorder, but for cars.

With a 250 gig hard drive, I can record about 700 hours worth of drive time, and with our current rig it's not that hard to take out the HD, format it and start over again.

I'm looking for a view out the front and also the side windows, so I'm thinking the rear deck might be my best option, the only issue is I don't want some fool breaking into my car for a camera, so I'm thinking of possibly mounting it in that keyhole in the rear panel.

That sounds pretty good too. More friendly then a office parking lot for sure. I wonder if i can borrow a fluke multimeter from one of the engineers at my work for a weekend....

the only issue about that is the viewing angle. Unless you rig the camera right into the rear compartment and have the wires dissconnect for quick removal. It won't be too sturdy, but atleast all you have to do is take that out at night.

I got you covered on the multimeter

Problem is do you need an oscilloscope? I don't think I can sneak my rig past security -_-

David:

Yea the viewing angle thing is tough without using multiple cameras. I'm hoping to get a test run fired up by next week. It'd be pretty cool once we get it working -_-.

What'd be bad *** would be mounting a camera in the front rotary symbol ^_^

if you mount the camera on the headliner in the left or right corner no one would even see it.

A scope would be nice to play with, but I don't think it's essential. Ground loops and noise can be tracked down without one, and i don't really have enough adjustment to require an RTA for tuning. The tone generator on my laptop should be enough to set the crossovers right.

Tomorrow we're going to be in Milpitas, Dave and Buster's to be exact. We're going to meet up in top level of the parking structure.

I have a couple of little Fluke 87 mark 3's I can bring.
