I drove off the on-ramp trying to get back onto the I-5 after getting gas at Coalinga. Yup, for some reason when I drive like a bat out of hell on the mountain roads I've been okay (knock on wood), but when I drive normally trying to get onto the freeway I manage to lose the back end, not get it back, and slide off the road off, down a big embankment, and damage the entire front of my car. The car just seemed to snap oversteer and I wasn't even pushing. Of course it was quite cold out and there was some sand on the ground.

Then the following weekend a dog runs out of a building right into the path of my 3. I had no time to react, so I hit the dog. The dog seemed okay, but my 3's bumper and left front fog got damaged.

Damn Im glad you are ok... It's kinda funny, the only time things happen to my car are when I'm driving normal too.

I should be OK so long as nobody brings a gun into work. I'll probably wind up being the guy who gets to watch as people clean out their "my documents" folders, and if that comes to pass well, I'll have plenty of work to do.

Our department has grown only by a single person in the past 10 years, and there are only 4 of us now. (3.5 if you consider my manager has to do manager stuff half the time). There isn't much fat to trim there unless they want to throw us out on the street and replace us with contractors who don't know a thing and cost more then us anyways. Scary stuff though. I try not to think about it and just do my job. If there are cuts in our department, freaking out about it won't help me.

So yeah. I'm still down for that track day on the 24th.

I've yet to hear anything from Dick... i'm still working under the assumption he's written the car off. For now it's just sitting there getting free car washes from mother nature.

Dick's car has those neat looking fenders, doesn't it. I bet someone already has dibs on them.

I might come to the DB one at 7:30, if I don't fall asleep, since I'm old and feeble and never go out at night anymore.

So..I'll give myself a 70% chance in going. As for UC, rather not drive that far, yeah, did I mention I was lazy too .
