hey you guys, I just discovered this Norcal thread! I'm actually a Miata owner from the Bay Area, but I've started hanging out with RX-8 guys since I came to New York for school because I can't find any other Miata folk to chill with.
I noticed you talking about meets and events and thought maybe I could help you out a little. I have a really tight crew of car people at home, and we have weekly meets, in addition to regular drives which will definitely challenge your skills in the twisties, tech days, and caravans to autocrosses and track days. It's primarily Miatas there, but there are a few folks with RX-8s who sometimes bring them out (are you guys on this forum too, neofreak, latinkings49, EunosPizzaBoy, and MartinezA92?), and the group welcomes car enthusiasts of any sort, but especially those within the Mazda family.
Anyway, if you'd like to check out what's going on around the Bay Area, here's a link to the events forum:

The info for the weekly meets is in the Recurring GTGs sticky up toward the top. Hope to see some of you guys there the next time I'm home!

What exhaust do you have? Do you still have the stock cat? If so the aftermarket exhaust should pass the 95db test. I got pulled over for loud exhaust when I had Borla exhaust and test pipe, but I just swapped the cat back on and brought it to the referee and it passed with a 93db with the borla.

Well the CHP dont know ****! They only know how to abuse their authority... Anyways as long as the cat is there and the exhaust is under 95db then there is no reason as to why the exhaust is illegal.

Well you should have, but politely. These ******* are abusing their authority. I had a cop follow me around two weeks ago, and he was tailgating me. I finally got home and he kept following me all the way to my parking lot, inside private property so that he can tell me that I should not be racing (I wasn't). I think he was profiling the honda, but anyway I politely said "Officer I wasn't racing", and just left him there at my parking lot....I didn't even wait for a reply.
