I heard mention of a meet, though they were talking about a weekend. Sadly since I am a college student I work Saturdays making weekends difficult for me....

Ohhh I see what you mean. Well, we'll post to this forum if anything is happening so who knows.
My name is Conner I've been with the forum for a few years now just never posting anything just looking for opinions on my car. I hope you can take time to read my message.
Im 19 and got my first rx8 as my first car when I was 16. It was a low mileage 04 4 port rx8. After finding out they weren't the same as the 6 ports I wanted to switch. I found an manual 6 port with a blown motor that was the same color as mine. Knowing it would be a project for down the road but would paid for its self in parts alone for now. After buying and switching all the parts that were better on my car my family was unfortunate to have our house burn down in the middle of the night. My car was stuck where it was and got burnt. The car is completely destroyed. Now here's my question. I still have my manual rx8. I was gunna give up on it because I didn't have the money to buy a fully rebuilt engine working my job I have. I've been saving and found an 05 rx8 with 30,000 miles on it. It was rear ended in 2007 and didn't have insurance so has been sitting in his front driveway. He just wants it gone at this point. He claims It starts and warms up and stays on after warm Just can't drive. It' hasn't been started in 3 years though. Ima check this car out and if I get it started after cleaning fuel lines and hooking a new battery to it. I want to buy this rx8 and swap the motor into mine and get it going. I know this is a cheap way of getting these cars going but for now till I get a better job and more funds to rebuild an engine. I don't plan to use this as my daily driver I just want to get my rx8 back on the road. Is this worth it knowing it's been sitting and is a rotory motor? Your insight on this would be much appreciated and thank for taking time to read this. and sorry if this is posted incorrectly i'm in the Norcal area and wanted some insight from people around me.

To me it seems like a good idea, though to be honest I dont have all that much knowledge of the subject. Might be worth finding out why the car will not drive though, and see what and how much that has to do with the engine health. As another point of note I too am a 19 year old with an Rx-8 as a first car, though I got mine only a few months ago after much saving and working part time. Good luck and keep us posted!
Hey everyone, I am sure nobody is around that used to be back in the day but, just wanted to say hi, my name is Vince. I sold the 8 back in 2011 due to a growing family but was recently able to buy it back from my friend. Car has been to Germany and back and is in need of a little work and love. she runs strong but there are a lot of upgrades and modifications needed. I will be updating my youtube site with some of the buildup and changes over the next month or so so subscribe and hope to see you all at a meet up real soon. youtube.com/showanddrift

Back again after 6 years gone.
Welcome back! I'm on and off on the forums but check back every few days. Glad to see another 8 being brought back to life, 8's are becoming a more rare site to see.
Also, welcome new guys that i haven't responded two for the past two months, sorry!!
Hey everyone. Just moved to Hayward a little bit ago from Indiana. CA is completely different haha. Nice to meet yall and hopefully i'll see some of you around
Check this out. Got me to lol! A typical "flooded" RX-8. How much time or "money" does it really take to de-flood an RX-8? Unbelievable... The more I look at it, the more I want to call him just to drill him on technical rotary engine questions

What's up brother? I'm from NY, now living in the Central Valley and, yeah, it is different. But you get used to it... Did you bring an RX8 from Indiana or are you planning on buying one?
Heading down to roger kraus within the next couple weeks to get the car aligned and corner balanced. I bought the car here because I can't get my civic to pass visual inspection
I just got a 2007 RX-8 against my better judgement. Anyways, does anybody know where I can get a compression test near SJ. I don't trust checking Yelp, 5 stars can still **** your **** up. The car runs fine, it starts whether hot or cold. I want to see how much life is left in the engine before I start buying things. Thanks.

I would recommend Rotorsport in Santa Clara. Paul specializes in rotary vehicles and mazda's in general. He'll work on an RX-8 with no issues, if your brought in an FD, that may be another conversation. But definitely check it out.

It seems like that guy lost his lease and is in between shops right now. Hopefully soon he gets his shop running again.
I had great service from Mr. Mazda aka Mike Muscara whose shop is in Campbell off 17 and Winchester on Camden. I had a 2008 RX-8 GT for 6 years as well as three Ford Probe GTs (non-rotaries) and he took great care of my cars. Last I knew he had a mid 90s RX-7 and it was an amazing car, well cared for. I can vouch for Mr. Mazda in Campbell. Tim, who I believe is the owner there is very helpful, and has been responsible for getting my car back on the road on more than one occasion. At least one of those I may have showed up with a bag of parts and my car on a flat bed. Thanks Tim!
