Bay Area / Putnam Mazda
I just got my RX-8 serviced at Putnam Mazda for the 60k miles service. And I'm under the impression that they are either dishonest or extremely incompetent! Let me know what you think.
So, here is my full story :
I brought in my Mazda RX-8 for the full 60,000 miles service. It's costly but I thought that would be worth it...
The car was running perfectly when I brought it, so it wasn't a surprise they didn't find anything wrong.
They gave me the keys, and I drove away. Coming to a full stop in the parking lot, the car stalled. It never did that before, I tried again and it did it again!
So I brought the car back, telling them that they did something to it. They told me that somehow the new spark plugs revealed a problem with the coils.
I've heard that the coils are a known problem on this car, so I thought that they could be changed anyway. They charged me another $500 and told me that they extensively tested the car.
Now, just a week after the car is in my parking lot and it won't start. I had AAA jump start it so I could come home. I checked under the hood and the battery is all corroded and the top is covered with acid!! On the service receipt they say that the battery is "green". I wonder if they even bothered to open the plastic part that covers it!!
What do you think about that ? Anyone had a similar experience there ?

I had bad experiences with Hayward Mazda (and now they are gone).
Many people have had bad experience with Mazda Dealer all around the states.

Dude you got jipped! I could have done all of that for you for lunch! You should ask for a refund for the services you paid for because they really didn't get anything done to make the car any better.
I had experience with putnam mazda before and they were ok, but I agree with you that they are dishonest and incompetent. I brought my car in a couple of times due to rough idling and vibrating in the engine bay and they told me its normal for a rotary to do that. They said they have done a compression test on my 8, but never showed me the test results.
So now I am just waiting for something to happen and bring it back in to shove it in their face. Try bringing it to Menlo Mazda which is in redwood city. I had good experience with them... But I won't guarantee anything
