Best twisties in so-cal IMO

From freeway 10 W going 110 south. That freeway got to be the best twisties ever!!! We took our car there for a meeting and all of a sudden there's nothing but multitudes of short turns that are ridiculously fun... it says speed limit 45 but we were going around 80 "my eclipse gs-t and my friends sc430". Oh I can't wait with the rx-8 and see how fast I can go.

What's the best twisty place you drove?

another nice place for twisties is the pala/oceanside exit off the 15 in temucula. go towards pala/indianreservations/casinos there are a lot of twisties. and on a real nice day you can see all the little crosses from people who didnt make the turns....

There's a bunch of nice roads where I work. My definition of nice is very rare police sightings, not heavily traveled, and not too many technical 1st gear corners but twisty enough to keep you out of 3rd gear. This is from a 1994 Miata set up for grip.

Current favorite road, Stunt Road starting at Mulholland in Calabasas. Some straights that will take you up into 3rd gear. Very light traffic, I haven't seen any cops, but weekends have crotch rockets bombing through.

Another favorite road, Piuma Road off of Malibu Canyon Road also in Calabasas. It's bit residential so don't go too crazy, no cops, gets very foggy with low clouds in the evennings, very technical at the end about a mile before PCH. At nearly the summit, there is a really cool pull out / scenic view. On one side you have the city of Calabasas and the other the Pacific Ocean. On evennings that will become foggy, you could watch the clouds roll in through the hills. Leave before it gets too thick or you'll be crawling your way down.

Mulholland west bound from Malibu Canyon is a good stand by. It's fairly fast, not very residential, patroled by cops, and weekends filled with slow weekend poser bikers.

It's been a long time but Ortega Highway was quite good. Pops you out near Lake Elsinor...

One of favorites long time ago was Live Oak Canyon. Wonderfully fast, hardly any traffic, oak trees so bunched together it has almost a tunnel like effect. It's lightly patroled last time I check a few years ago.

Another twisty, just for the sake of twist is the Azusa (39) highway into the hills. Ends at a dead end at the top. Watch out for silly gang bangers.

A road I used to blow off steam when I was in high school in Hacienda Heights was
Turnbull Canyon. Doesn't go anywhere, some technical sections, I suspect it is filled with ricers now.

I'm just starting to figure out the Valencia area... The Bouquet canyon circuit is pretty fun. Starting from the Magic Mountain area, head north on Bouquet Canyon. The city melts into horse country. The entire run until the Elizabeth Lake Road is third gear. Left on Elizabeth Lake Road for several miles then another left on San Frincisquito Canyon. This takes your right by the aquaduct pipes and a pumping station.

I was wondering what was taking so long for this awesome road to be mentioned. Isn't the drive the official climax of the annual SevenStock Event? I was coming the opposite direction when I had the opportunity to view about 100 RX's and Miatas all in procession. I remember being in awe and knowing that one day I too would be part of the rotory community.

My favorite is Bouquet Canyon going North to South, you can take the turns in 3rd and 4th. Second favorite is Lake Hughes road starting by Castaic Lake...and of course Angeles Crest. I'll be going to Nor Cal (Fort Jones) looks like there are some good twisties around there.

Kanan Rd. to Encinal Canyon: 101 to PCH

This is one of my favorite roads. Don't go straight to Pt. Dume but take a right.

This is where Dad taught me to drive at age 12....in his 280SL.

Still a cool drive even though traffic is more now since the days long ago.

just be careful when driving in these canyons or cliff sides, many people crash there, and if you are injuried it is near impossible to get a helicopter or ambulance to you in time. Also cops now actively patrol these areas due to the highened number of accidents on these roads. Be safe!

Must be an age thing... Old farts have already seen a lot and survived through a lot of silliness so when a wide eyed whipper snapper chatters about dangers, the young one gets blown off.:D

sigh... I think I just crossed over to being an old fart. I just accused someone of being young and I'm getting a car that has AC and 2 too many seats. Mid-life crisis alert!! Time for me to get a crotch rocket to compensate?

Isn't that what all of us old farts are doing in this forum. Aren't we all buying the RX-7 we wish we had in our 20's? Passing it off as being "practical" because it seats 4 adults.

18 MPG/city is NOT practical!

lol
HUH? No, I won't chill out... j/k. Its cool u looking out for ur rx-8 comrades, but just the way you said it. It sound like your the cautious, jealous, annoying nerd who is 40 but still has revenge on his bully from high school, goes 35 when speed limit is 50, hates it when the jocks get the girls, and gets wedgies in high school. LOL J/k. Thanks for looking out.

Hey, go vote in my demographics age poll. It won't solve your problem but it might make me feel better.

dam old people this days with their mid-life crisis. They just jealous that they never had the cool car when they were young, and Yes you go get your crotch rocket it'll probably help partially in ur crisis time.

I am not where near 40, I am 18. So my mid-life crisis won't be coming for a while. Speed limit for me is the minimum speed you must go on the road any slower and you are in my way

:D I felt the same way when I was young. Now it's come full circle!

My first new car I purchased when I was 21 was a "cool" car. Granted an old man car, the Miata. I did get the R package (no AC, cloth, Torsen rear).

The way things are going, in ten years, I will be the old geezer in then #4 lane driving 45mph in a Porche 911 Turbo X50.:p

A little bit off topic but in the past few days I've seen a bunch of Lamborghinis and Aston Martins running around. What's going on? Who's paying out?

911 turbo eyh... for an old man.. *sigh* your just going to hurt yourself:D. In 10 years I probably get the new s class mercedez or a 7 series bmw, but while I am young I go for the sports car. I am going off topic... Oh wellz... twisties yah thats right... where's the spot where the good twisties are?

You know you're getting old when you can't remember where the good twisties were.
