You don't need to be driving to get a ticket, after all, people get parking tickets all the time.

I personally have gotten tickets (all from the same A**hole cop mentioned earlier) for expired registration (no purpose registering the 7 when I was waiting for the ever delayed 8 to come out), parked too far from the curb (facing the wrong way in front of my house), and missing plates (on both of my earlier 7's). My street is one block long with two streets that end at my street (forming a U). Other people in my neighborhood have also gotten ticketed by this guy.

The tickets are only money. Don't count against insurance or points, so I pay them (I am in violation). If they were inappropriate (meaning I wasn't guilty), I might consider fighting them, but in my case, I couldn't win, since I was in violation.

I didn't really fight this $10 fix it ticket... but I'm sure I should have brought that up. Then I'm sure the cop would say something to the effect that I entered my vehicle and was ready to pull away. He gave me that ticket before I started the engine so...

I have the MS front now, and noticed that some people have put it inside the grill portion of the bumper... if the fix it ticket happens again (3 time in the last year), I'll prolly put it behind the grill. $40 bucks for stupid tickets like these... and only one was attached for speeding... other ones were just the front ticket.

Btw, this goes for tinted cars in California. What's the deal here. I see a ton of other cars with front driver side window limo tints, mine's the lightest possible, and the cop shafted me with that one too. Tint ticket + No Front plate. At the least give me a speeding ticket to make it worthwhile.

The same cop has been giving you the same tickets over and over? OUCH! Personal grudge perhaps? Fight that at the next ticket...

Like you said, I never fight fix it ticket because it's just not worth fighting against... possibly leading to higher fines. I do fight the speeding tickets, or crossing double yellows, etc etc.

HA! A friend of mine got pissed by the cop that went around the parking lot of the Church he goes to, hunting for no front plates. The cop basically ticketed almost 1/3 of the entire lot. And of course the cop skipped the muscle cars like Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs, even skipped the Benz.

My friend drives an old gen 3000GT, but he's white. Well, copper didn't see that and ticketed his Azn car :D

Sounds like that one cop is just ticket happy.

Tinted front side windows are definitely illegal in california. My understanding is cops actually like it when people have "minor" violations like that. It gives them an excuse to go fishing if they suspect something else is going on that they want to investigate.

Note: my understanding of police attitudes and aspects of the law come from several years of reserve law enforcement training. It's not total speculation and heresay but it isn't necessarily 100% true either.

Well, you're getting the tickets because your car's modified, if your car is stock, they typically won't pull you over for those reasons unless they're really bored or if you're at a beach/airport. I guess to cops, modified cars = punk *** teen out looking for trouble or racing. That's the biggest reason I want to keep my car stock, it's simply not worth the trouble of California cops pulling people over because drivers are endangering the public by not having a front license plate. Hell, I don't know why tint is considered dangerous considering majority of the states, it's perfectly fine and especially with the California sun, it makes it more important to have one here. Not having one should be considered more dangerous to the driver.

I see on the news and hear on the radio that we need more police to protect the citizen, all I can think is, more like harass Is that why they have cops stationed at parking lots outside of beaches pulling over every car without a front license plate in order to protect people from the dangers of not having one?

Front license plates are there for additional revenue generating anyways. Ahhhhhhhnold should do something about this, pull the revenue generation away from the cities into the city coffer with tickets and you won't get those retarded tickets, and State gets the money, win win for all!

Besides, what can one exactly do in Visalia compared to, say, SF or San Diego? :p

(just playing, folks)
YOU CAN MELT! I don't know though I lived in the Anaheim for awhile (I know the armpit of the OC). To expensive and can't get away from the people.

Yah your right though Visalia does suck.

My windows are 20% tinted in the front which means you can barely see through them. Generally i look out for cops so i roll down my window in time when i see them, the 8's windows roll down really fast. Or sometimes when i pass a cop and i don't want him to notice i am rolling them down i only roll one down, making them look lighter then they really are. Someone on this forum also said keep both hands on the wheel, so i do that as well.

Just in case some of you are wondering about the C5 front plate thingy. Take a closer look at one next time. Right at the tip, theres a "rectangular" cover with "corvette" embossed across it. This cover is coincedently sized and shaped like our plates. Remove this cover cover and walla! A pocket/holder specificaly designed to hold license plates. Too bad they get away with no plates though....
