too rub a little more salt in the wounds of you Cali boys, here in Oregon we don't get regular plates first. when i picked up my car the dealer said "regular or custom plates" i chose custom and filled out the paperwork. then he filled out a paper temp "trip ticket" which is good until the end of Oct. that is on my driver's side rear window. then about a week ago i get a note in the mail from OregonDMV which says my custom plate was approved and will be shipped to me in about a month. plus they included a 2nd paper temp "trip ticket" that is good until the end of Nov just in case the first one runs out of date. i never even see a set of generic plates and the customs come to my house, i don't have to go anywhere to pick them up. BTW we don't even have sales tax up here, going to the dmv still sucks but they do alot of things so that you hardly ever have to see the inside of one. you guys gotta get to the voting booths and start making some changes in your state government and i don't mean just this governor thing i mean the legislature. they are screwing up your economy there and just keep hitting you with more taxes and fees but still not giving you any better services.

Oregon DVM are the Best

i just got a used RX8. love it but i have a special disabled veteran plate that oregon issues. i called DMV, answered first ring and they told me i can make the change to the new car using paperwork on line . i have 2 months to do it. i will take and put the other car out of commission until i sell it. but the oregon system is really good.

I followed all the instructions on their web site; it was as easy as could be!
