Also, it looks like he hit something other than a car.

really!? that's cool...

the frame looks to be damaged obviously - but hows your axels and control arms? not bent right? hopefully not - any damage to the passenger side door? sometimes when there's damage to the front fender it pushes back the passenger side door -

Actually, the suspension seems pretty bad. I only have my cell phone to take pictures but the linkage and some other stuff are pretty damaged...

It looks like the car understeered into a wall or something. Definitely feels like a one car accident or else he would've have just discreetly returned it.

Any possible way his insurance can cover it at all, or your insurance? This is the exact same reason why I won't let my brother borrow my car without me at all. I'm hoping for the best for you John! Get that bad boy fixed out of critical condition!

If any of these spots are even remotely bent (marked in red) . . . . . I am sorry for your loss

If the frame is bent . . .. I am sorry for your loss

The fender's crushed all the way in. Also, it moved the strut bar a bit, wouldn't that effect the frame on the other side of the car as well? So does that means that there's frame damage?
yes, i'm sorry to say but it looks like you do have minor frame damage. it seemslike an easier fix that you would think, but my guess would be 12k in repairs. i'm upping the price because many shops do not have a lot of experience with rx8s. but anyway

im sorry about your crash....if i were you id bitch slap my friend who borrowed the car.

and it doesn't matter how good of a friend he is to you, make HIS insurance pay for EVERYTHING. he needs to be taught a lesson, and if wasn't your fault it got crashed, so yeah...again im sorry

Yeah there's for sure some frame damage. Especially noticing your strut tower was moved. *sigh* I'm sorry john but your friend should be taking care of this entirely for you. I wouldn't even let him meet me half way, make his insurance cover it all!

I say total it and make him buy you a new one. I absolutely refuse to own any car with frame damage.

Well, I just got back from his place. Luckily, we sat down and had a long discussion... man the tension over his dining table was insane. We called the HIS insurance company and they decided to pay for my damage. So basically, his insurance company is going to cover everything... now, unfortunately his insurance company does not provide me with a rental and I'm afraid to drive my other car (240SX with an RB20 Swap) since it's super unreliable...

How bad would a car be with some frame damage? I know the structural rigidity of the car will go down but how much? I don't really track the car (Once in a year for fun or so) and it's mostly used as a daily driver.
