Couldn't strike a deal @ Claremont Mazda
Stopped by last night on my way home and talked with salesman 'Peter'. They had 14 cars on the lot featuring every color but Nordic Green. All cars had Grand Touring pkg and leather. I really want cloth and the sport pkg but thought they might make a dealer trade to get the sale. Peter told may they would be willing to make a dealer trade until I brought up the fact that I'm eligible for S-plan pricing via the Ford Partnership Recognition program. I don't think he was quite familiar with the S-plan program as he whipped out his cell and called someone to verify. Then told me that they would only honor S-plan pricing only on a car that sat on their lot. No dealer trading to get the car I want at S-plan price. So I excused myself and thanked Peter for his time. I'll be trying my luck at Tustin Mazda this weekend.

until last week it wasn't. But as of Friday 10/17 the angels are rejoicing. The following is a copy and paste of the page. Can't link the site as it requires a login code. It's tough to look at without the formating but just look for the dollar signs$$$. S-plan is Mazda Employee Price (E-plan) + 5.3%.

Wow, probably only in the US though, seems to me like supply is getting larger than demand in the US!
Even in Canada to be honest I know of 5 or 6 cars available to buy right now. Originally it seemed it would be hard to get a car in Canada, but to be honest if you want one I don't see any reason why you can't (except if your picky on colour).

It's not the color that concerns me so much as the package. The GT is overkill for me. I don't care about the Homelink, Bose, Power heated seats, etc... and I really don't want leather. My wifes car is 4 years old and the leather in it looks like crap. The cloth in my 12 year old Toyota still looks relatively good when I vaccum out the cookie crumbs. I'll take Sport and cloth in Winning Blue please.

Seems like S-Plan is pretty close to invoice. Is that true?
There are several places in the LA, OC, Riverside, and San Bernardino areas that will go $500 over invoice ON THE PHONE (I'm talking about conversations with fleet/internet managers). At least 2 of these places will go $100 to $250 over invoice ON THE PHONE. Would that be sufficiently close to your S-Plan?
You wrote that you talked to a salesperson named Peter. Bypass salespeople and go directly to the internet/fleet manager on the phone (don't waste your time with emails). At larger places, there may be separate individuals for fleet and internet, respectively. In that case, it doesn't matter whom you talk to.
So maybe you don't really need the S-Plan???
