My visor busted so I'm going to have Salinas Cardinale Mazda take care of it and the emissions/engine recall. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

I have an appointment for the 22nd of September at Tustin Mazda to have mine checked out. I am a bit nervous about this but I'll enjoy my car as much as I can until then, just in case....

Oh, and I've got a CX-7 that will be waiting for me to drive that day. (I'm making sure they follow the recall instructions when it comes to the CX. No damn MPV this time... )

I highly recomend Valley Mazda in San Luis Obispo. Yeah, its a long drive for most, but well worth the trip...

Otherside: if only you guys were open on a weekend, I'd totally swing by there. I'm in SLO every few months visiting my brother.

Toca,
you don't need ot take anything off, trust me. If your car is running fine, just tell them you have NEVER experienced any loss of power and they WILL NOT run a compression test on your car or do the test drive.

They will however just reflash the ECU (unavoidable) and check the front spark plugs.

Well I attempted to take my car into Cardinale Mazda in Salinas today to fix the visor and recall stuff.

First Mistake--well they ordered the passenger visor instead of the driver visor! Aaargh. Something about the microfiche being wrong. Blah blah blah. Duh!!!

Second Mistake--when I discussed the 4206F engine recall the service manager said that a loaner car was not provided. Grrrr....and he called someone else in the org and they said it was not either. These people are sucking on too many exhaust fumes.

Well I am holding off on doing the recall stuff till the correct driver's visor comes in. I will print out all the recall information and point out the requirements.

The nice enough manager (J***) said it'd take about an hour to do the plugs and flash. If that's the case, I don't really need a loaner/rental car. However, I'm going to insist on the gas and wash, at least.

Just for reference, I called Seaside Cypress Coast Mazda and the manager there (K**) said no loaner/rental car either.

PRINT OUT THE DEALER LETTERS TO TAKE WHEN YOU GO IN!

Thumbs down

I went to Alhambra Mazda... The recall work itself was fine. But, the rat bastards made 3 scratches on my passenger's side door.

C&D: Call MNAO if they dont want to give you a rental. The dealer instructions clearly state that you get an upgraded rental (even a CX-7 if it's available)

Let me know if you need me to post the Dealer Letter on here.

Thanks for the offer and support. I printed out the dealer and owner letter Mazda NAO sent out. I faxed it over to the Salinas Mazda Service Manager and politely said, here is what you are supposed to provide for this recall. It clearly states that a loaner/rental car is supposed to be offered regardless of how long the servicing will take in addition to cleaning and a gas fill-up. Please pass this along to the warranty info woman too.

I said if he had any questions that he should call MNAO to clarify proper procedures.

zoom44 has kindly posted all the letters and TSBs regarding the recall for us.
https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-trouble-shooting-95/technical-service-bulletins-tsbs-recalls-rx-8-a-14453/

RESULT: Service Manager from Salinas Cardinale Mazda called me back and said that he received the information, verified it with the warranty woman, and it would all be taken care of when I came in for the recall fix and for the wrongly ordered visor mirror. Appreciated the call, but it really shouldn't be on the customer's shoulders to have things followed properly. I feel bad for those not armed with information and printouts.

I took mine into the local KC dealer Tumminia Mazda. The service was adequate but not superb.

So Cal folks, any experiences with Galpin Mazda? How about Long Beach? I am in Santa Monica, so looking for something close by.

I read somewhere that Browning in Cerritos is giving crappy rentals, not washing the car nor filling it up. I want my free gas. I would hate to see the stealership take money from Mazda and not pass it on to me.

Thanks!
