lol, you surely speak your mind. And yeah i have heard alot about " if you take care of your car it'll take care of you."
I don't know much at all about tires, i wont deny that. **** i dont know anything about them. Alot has been handed to me as well but i'll surely let you know that just never showing interest in nice tires before is the reason for being so naive.

I realize your parents are helping you and I commend your enthusiasm but this is not the car for you.
You said you've been driving for 2 years now. What are you driving? How many 'close calls' have you had?
You're a senior in high school now, what about going to college? What University are you going to? That will add several expenses to your budget that you are not accounting for right now. Your parents will most likely cover your room / board but do you have any idea how much money you'll spend in college just to "hang out" with your friends; food, drinks, parties, clothes, women, etc etc etc.
Do you really think you'll have time to work on your car once school starts? You really want a brand new RX-8 in a school parking lot ever day?!

i wouldnt, seriously, people would f*ck with the car, and i agree with jedi. when you go to college, you should be spending your money on having a good time, whether its partying, or women, but not your car. just wait til you are out of college and are started on your career.

This young person is not asking for life advice. He wants to know whether he can afford maintenance on a car.
Let him own the car and have a life experience. As we all can reflect, it is the life experiences we learn from, not from back and forth banter on a forum.
Ayodog. I have two 8's for sale. Mine which is already up and I know you've seen. The mileage is too high for you, but the price is right.
I also have a white 8 which I am currently parting out to return to stock. I should be able to get enough money from the part out to get close to your 17k budget. It is a base model 05, white water pearl (great color) with 36k miles. It currently has an HKS exhaust, KN intake, 19 inch Axis wheels, body kit. If your interested, send me a pm and we can talk.

Other cars i have driven however are 2 different s13s, one had a ka24 other sr20 redtop. A 350HP hemi jeep cherokee. My moms... its a beast. An FD TT, and a 350 with just a stock vq35.
I have done driving courses as well as my dad encourages them. I'm not really a bad driver and i have experienced cars with ALOT of power and that are FR as you can see.
I dont have much experience with these cars in a daily driving sense however. But with the rx8s low torque compared to other things i have driven i dont think it'll be much of a problem.
Sorry to overly explain but i feel it must be done so no one brings up these kind of things again. I over react i guess haha

Everyone has different priorties as well, my car being my #2 besides just chilling with friends. But they can easily coexist. Not sure how to explain but i'll get by believe me <33
