Engine problems in SoCal.

Are other Southern California RX-8 drivers having engine problems in hot weather? I'm on my second engine ('04 auto) and it's being repaired and possibly getting a third engine. I experience some power loss at 80 degrees and severe power loss at 90 degrees on both the original and remanned engines. I'm trying to determine if my car is unusual or if it's a common problem in these part. I read that a lot of Las Vegas owners are having engine problems due to their 100+ temps.

I guess i'm not the only one.
Not only it loses the power but the engine goes off when I stop.
Had numerous occasions of engine stop on freeway, ramps and local streets after driving about 30 mins of driving. Do I need to replace the engine or something?

RX-8 MASSACRE MAZDA Campaign

Hello,
I am going to start a nightmare for Mazda USA. Would you like to be involved? My 2004 Rx8 has been nothing but trouble for me. I have had one engine replaced so far. The dealership has informed me I need to replace this one also. This car has always been very well maintained. Now this one has the same problem the first engine had. Mazda does not want to replace this one. They never fixed the problem. I was just give the same problem, in different engine. I am going to get as many "letter to the editor " sent out that I can send. I am also going to create a YOU-TUB video on the problems hundreds maybe even thousands are having with Mazda. I know this is going to take a little time. The more people we can get involved in this the bigger it will become. It is time these big auto makers hear the people. I want to hit them in the pocket book. I want to create such a Hugh negative marketing campaign about Mazda and the RX8. I love the car but hate Mazda at this point. If they loose a few million in sales it will serve them right. If any of you have been in contact with other Mazda owners regarding their problem? Please get them involved with what we are trying to achieve.
I hope you want to help us with our
“MASSACRE MAZDA" campaign.

If you would like to talk more please get in touch with me at,

You need to go in for the recall. You might need a new engine especially if it's caused by the heat.

I'm not at that point yet - I'm still in the e-mail and letter writing phase. I've written to MNAO about extending the warrentee beyond 5 years and for a buyback offer.

Galpin Mazda has been very cooperative and polite so far. I too love the RX-8 but I'm concerned about the hazards of driving it: getting rear-ended or a head-on collision on a left turn if the engine stalls. I've read of an alleged injury on another RX-8 web forum, and if more occurs this could be very bad publicity, not to mention the possibility of an injury or death lawsuit.

I'm convinced Mazda is working on the problem and is stalling for time to find a solution.

Well this is my second Rx 8. My first one had this problem. It got hit down in Utah
A couple years ago. It to need a new engine. But Mazda got lucky. It was wiped
out for good. Car # 2, Same problem. Mazda fixed the first engine. The replacement engine failed the same tests. but becauce it's past the 12 month,
12,000 mile warrenty. They are not wanting to do anything for me.
They didn't fix the problem. Just gave me the same problem in a different
engine. they didn't fix a thing...
