Fast Freddy's Mazda

Hey Everyone,

There is a store / shop named Fast Freddy's Mazda on Harbor in Santa Ana...

Anyone know anything about them? Always wanted to check it out but I keep forgetting to go.

Fast Freddy's is also known as Rotary Reliability and Racing, on Harbor and Warner. They do good work on my FD and I've had no complaints. Don't confuse them with RRR in Upland, California. Their website still has not been completed.

What do they do? Do they sell accessories, do they work on cars? Sorry if these sound like stupid questions, but I've never really heard of them and never been in there.

You think they got any cool stuff for my 626 also?

They have done some very sick work as of late. They have done some minor work for me also (tranny flush, diff, and anything else I deemed "messy"). Nice guys, and if you can talk Nick into doing the exhaust port for me on my MSP, I will be your friend forever.

I'll have to start going there since they're like around the block from my house... :-)

Holy thread resurrection!

I've got about 4,000 miles on my car now and it's time to flush out the tranny fluid & differential with some Royal Purple.

I just got off the phone with Nick over @ Fast Freddy's and they're going to do it for me either tomorrow or Friday. (said it would be bout $50 since I'm bringing the fluids)

I'll let you guys know how it turns out...

I didn't forget last time...just had no RX-8 to take over there back then.
(was doing research for when I finally got my car)

I've only had my car since September but figured I'd treat her to some better tranny fluids.

Going first thing tomorrow...wish me luck

Looks like you forgot to update again.

I need to know what fluids to use for my car, and where I can get them.
I'm planning on doing this in a week or sooner if I can.

Might get someone to help, or I might pay some shop. Not sure which route to go yet.

Damn, I gotta remember to update threads more often. Good catch Cesar.

I ended up going with Royal Purple Max Gear (75/90) in the tranny and rear differential.

It is possible to do it on your own but I just didn't feel like going through the hassle. I paid $50 (not including the oil) to have them do it and I was in and out in about 30 minutes.
Fast Freddy's Mazda is a Rotary Only shop so while they were flushing out my car's fluids, I got to check out all the RX-7's they were working on. (including their race car. )
I purchased the Royal Purple from Santa Ana Speed Center (120 South Broadway Santa Ana 92701 714-835-6438) They were the only place in Orange County that carried it in stock. Believe me, I spent hours calling people off of Royal Purple's Dealer Locator

Shifts feel much smoother and I highly recommend this stuff. Hope this helps.

edit: Transmission HATED the Royal Purple, synchros went shortly afterwards, transmission replaced a few months later.
absolutely no fault of RRR, just noticed this old post and figured I'd update it. Running Redline fluids on the new transmission and it works flawlessly.

I just did this myself over the weekend. I used RedLine however MT-90 Transmission and 75W90 Differential. Have always used RedLine in my cars.

Cost was:
Red Line oils: $7.95 each X 4 = ~ $32.00 + tax
Pump (Kragen's) : $8.95
Washers (OEM): $3.50
Total: ~ $50.00

Smooth smooth shifting... Priceless

Hope this helps,
Carlos

I didn't know there were other RX8 guys around here. Good to hear. Fast Freddy's is pretty hidden but those BEAUTIFUL RX-7's give it away. Those guys know their stuff, and I can't wait to start upgrading my rx-8 at Fast Freddy's RRR. Also, anybody else who's gotten work done other than fluids, if you could let me know how it ended up for ya.

kevin: I know a lot of the RX-7 guys use this shop, most of the RX-8 guys use Neptune Speed in Huntington Beach, I've been going there for almost 6 years and they do exceptional work.

I run Royal Purple on my 8, I've never had problems with it. Royal Purple's website even has a section just about rotary engines for more information. It's pretty straight-forward. I've never had oil issues with my car. Also, the Royal Purple oil filter works wonders, I've had that in for a bit and it's hassle-free.

Louie knows his stuff, I just passed by over there this afternoon about my brakes, they're chatty over there, you could call or pass by and they'll let you know what they think. If the piles of trophies don't convince you they have the knowledge, Louie will.
